In 2003 Bitchfork was conceived as a joke band comprised of over 10 members. A short improv demo was recorded onto a Fisher Price tape deck complete with ranting, blasting drums (Jesse Anderson at the time), random guitar riffs, trumpet solos, samples of german language lessons and xylophone tapes resulting only with laughter. In early 2006 3 remaining members decided to revive the project and give it an actual direction. Jesse Lewis (Bass, now vocals), Tim Vaillancourt (Guitar, now drums) and Carl Mallany (Guitar) enlisted the services of Justin Funk (Bass) and Adam Mienicki (Guitar) to fill the hole Tim and Jesse made when moving to drum and vocal duties. A year of song writing, practicing and live shows ensued, spreading the new and serious word of the fork to an unsuspecting scene. In late 2006 keyboardist John Maydonik was added to the line up to emphasize the bands strong melodies and to make an even bigger sound. The band, by this point had developed a defined and unique blend of melodic death metal with influences of black metal, power metal, jazz and rock, taking influence from metal groups such as Dark Tranquillity, Opeth, Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, At the Gates and In Flames. Each member of Bitchfork comes from varied musical backgrounds and influences, bringing a unique and interesting sound to the group.
We are currently completing our demo 5-track CD which will be out in Summer of 2007 hopefully. We can play any shows that come our way, e-mail contact@bitchfork.net!
