About me: "We" are Kate and LC, two fellow Christian chicks who have been there! We now how messy and rough that being a teen can be and we want to use our experience(and sometimes our hilarious moments!) to help and encourage you through your life. We're here for you whenever you need us, so feel free to email us(bithiah@live.com) or message us via myspace. We'd LOVE to hear from you and hope you like the magazine!
What's in a name?
When we tried to come up with a name for the magazine, MK and I went through several options, one of the funniest being "Pomegranate"(yes, like the fruit!). One afternoon, while I was doing some research for class, I came across the name Bithiah, which in Hebrew means "daughter of God" or "Worshipper of Yahweh(the highest Hebrew name for God)" which I thought captured pretty clearly what we wanted the magazine to become. MK agreed and so we started work. Well, we later found more information on the Biblical person that bore this beautiful name and decided that she was a woman worthy of being a role model. Here's what we found: "Bithiah was the daughter of a Pharaoh of Egypt. She was the foster mother of Moses, having drawn him from the Nile. In Jewish tradition, she was exiled by the Pharaoh for bringing Moses the Levite into the house of Pharaoh and claiming him as her own child. Bithiah left Egypt with Moses during the mass exodus of the children of Israel." She eventually married an Israelite man and had her own children. Bithiah faced her father's anger, her family's disgust, and potential exile from the cushy life she lead to save little Moses's life, and then followed he and his people away from the only place she'd ever known. A true "daughter of God" if we've ever seen one.
