So in case you missed it, I haven't been doing my ol' Common Grounds Open Mic for awhile now, but I'm still teaching little younglings during the day to pay the bills, and will soon start the music back up. Thomas Friedman says that you can tell a lot about a person (actually a country, but who cares) by whether they have "more memories than dreams, or more dreams than memories." Well I have piles and piles of both. I've lived, studies, worked and played music in Idaho, Spain, Colorado, Greece, Massachusetts, and Korea. I've taught in pompous private boarding schools and in the poorest of inner city schools. I've learned every type of music from Frou Frou to Bob Dylan, and I'm still doin' it. I still look for that unknown folkie that needs that little push to keep playing and writing original stuff, or for that song that needs to get redone in a new style. I've enjoyed getting to know so many local musicians in the last three years, watching some of them start to make it big. Keep on rockin' you guys!! Thanks for visiting my site. Please stop by Common Grounds some Thursday (when it gets goin' again) to grab a glass of wine or a cup of coffee, and make sure to say hi.
Hey there Bix, Just wanted to let ya know that myself and the lovely Liz clark will be gigging in CO this month, so come to a show!!! Oct 11th Tri Lakes Center for the Arts Oct 19th Avogadro’s Number, Fort Collins
Trixby, you mathematical trickster, Moab's treating me pretty well. A new house means lotsa domestic work, but also a place to call my own. I would love to do Denver again. But I believe it's your turn. The folk fest is 11/6 to 11/9. If you can't make that, the classical fest is 8/28 to 9/13. If you're still teaching, it'd give your kids a chance to torture a sub. Eh?
Matt- "Lifted" came onto my iPod today in the car, and I thought, this cat sounds like someone took David Wilcox and Willie Porter and smashed their heads together. Miss the big CO and everyone there. Keep doin' what you're doin'.
hey matt bixby,
it's so funny to be talking to you after all these years. i'll be in boise in early october for morgan's wedding---maybe you'll be around too? have fun, keep in touch!
Brother. Your tunes are sounding sweet. I like the David Wilcox feel. True wisdom in those songs. Thanks for dropping by the show the other night. Well maybe I wouldn't call it a show but yet a display of people not interested in blues guitar. Just kidding. Well have a good one man.
