BIZERKA!
We've found our own style which mixes everyone's backgrounds into something that audiences seem to be enjoying.
With the mix of music from a dozen countries all thrown in together there's something for everyone.
Bizerka are a bunch of crazy musicians creating Melbourne's freshest gypsy-inspired dance music this side of Moldavia.
Playing traditional music from the seven corners of Europe in a distinctly untraditional style, we cross Cocecks with Kolos, Rachenitsa's with Rampi Rampi's and Russians with Romanians. Everything goes into a big melting pot and comes out the other side with that unique Bizerka sound.
With a large repertoire of primarily Eastern European music, everyone can boogie in everything from 2 beats to the bar, all the way up to 25!!!
We're fun, we're danceable and we can usually stay upright (until at least half way through the second set).
Hasapiksos Horos & Sadila Jana (Greece / Macadonia)
Bizerka (Serbia)
Kalinka featuring Melska (Russia)
Kangaroo Sausage Set (Greece)
Geamparalele din Bîrla & Rachenitsa (Romania / Niggles)
Our show on Fri 11 December at the East Brunswick Club, with a huge line up featuring Mojo Juju and the Snake Oil Merchants and Mikelangelo and the Tin Star; two of our very favourite acts. Hope to see you there
Be prepared for a night of exciting tunes, outrageous tempos, amazing playing and flashy dressing when The Woohoo Revue appear at Open Studio as part of the Darebin Music Feast on Saturday 5 September. The show starts at 8pm, admission is $10. The band's last Open Studio show was one very raucous night indeed. This should be a very sweaty one.
Big gypsy tunes will echo around the centre of Melbourne on Friday 7 August when The Woohoo Revue head up a massive line up of bands and DJs at the Forum Theatre as part of the Melbourne International Film Festival’s Balkan Beatbox Night.
In addition to The Woohoo Revue, the show will also feature such amazing acts as Vardos, BabaGanoush, 13 piece brass band Opa! as well as DJ Gabriele Urban Gypsy (PBS Trans Europa Express).
The combined talents of these performers will make this a rampaging Balkan carnival of oom-pah, gypsy swing and huge brass band sounds.
‘Awesome music. Your stuff is really incredible’ (Tommy Emmanuel). In this flamenco duo, Orlando performs his all original flamenco guitar compositions on the the guitar of his dreams, made in 1973 by Faustino Conde, Paco De Lucia's Luthier, accompanied by Michael Kontachristos on the cajon flamenco drum. A night of infectious gypsy flamenco by two of Melbourne's internationally recognised flamenco artists.

Thanks Bizerka, great music on your page. I think I've been struck down with the same Eastern European virus some time ago, and there seems to be no cure for it... All the best, Ehud (Black Velvet)
Melting Pot is all about the music - a good time for the audience and with drink prices to suit the budget, a chance for local live musicians to get exposure in a relaxed, friendly environment.
The “Round” concept has proven to be a very popular format overseas and it’s time Melbourne has one! The idea is to provide local singer-songwriters with a different type of performing environment – as though they’re performing in your living room with a P.A and a bar that serves awesome food.
Entry is just $5 for all 6 artists!!! My round starts at 8pm
hey, thanks for the ad! Looking forward to seeing you at the festival next year (31 Jan-8th Feb 09) – it’s going to be wicked. Check out our myspace page for updates and more info. cheers!

The gig is off! It's a travesty! I hear the venue caught wind of the high levels of extreme awesomeness ready to be delivered that night and promptly closed the doors and ran! What can ya do? We must set something else up, let us ponder.
