I sound like me. Singer/songwriter with a powerful voice. Mostly Traditional Country, with a little darker edge at times. Definitely not modern country. I hate that crap.
Hi, I'm bJ Omalley and I am an Old-Timey Country singer/songwriter from Youngstown, OH, now living in Nashville Tennessee! I write heartbreak songs and drinking songs (about people who drink because their heart is broken.) The songs are often sad and usually true, just the way Hank Williams Sr. liked to write. I sing them with a powerful soulful voice and with all of the feeling and emotion I can muster. Just like Loretta did. My live shows tour the course of emotions that erupt from good love gone bad. Soft sadness, bitter anger, lots of humor, and of course drink drink drink them away!
My music is not like the slick, over-produced "pop country" coming out of Nashville these days. I moved to Nashville in March to reclaim Country music back from those supermodel wannabes and plastic Pop producers that have been running the twang show for WAY too long. I was surprised to learn that most of the people in Nashville DON'T like crappy country either! They like the old stuff, the Good Stuff!
I am currently promoting my self released CD titled "Sweet Baby Freaker".
I have warmed up stages for many of my favorites including Hank III, Junior Brown, BR5-49, Kasey Chambers, Neko Case, Ben Kweller, Robert Earl Keene, and many more!
I'm also recording another project!!! Yea!!! I love recording!!! I am working with super freaker Chris Leonardi! He is producing and playing almost everything! He is something special for sure. Freakishly talented, dementedly funny, and a really great friend. If you're in need of a session guy to play piano, organ, bass, guitar, even DRUMS! Or you need a producer...or you just need someone in the studio to tell inappropriate lewd dirty bad stories to make everyone laugh...freakin Chris Leonardi is the guy.
