Some friends are helping me put on the Deep Blues Festival this summer.
I like bands that make me want to get up and dance. These do just that. Some people complain that this isn't blues. Here's what Rick Saunder's has to say about that:
"I think speaking for myself, and i'd think Chris might agree as well, we really aren't too interested in purity or authenticity. I'm not interested in getting all Marsalis about it and keeping what I call blues in a bell jar on a shelf and putting up a bunch of signs that say No Picture Taking and No Interpreting unless wearing white cotton gloves after being approved by the blooze authority."
"Sounds like it was not only recorded live, but recorded live down a tin can to a tape recorder at the other end of a phone, and sounding great for it!" - Mark Lamarr, BBC Radio 2
hey chris i think it's great what you're doing with deep blues. i'm gonna order my ticket as soon as i can convince some of my pals to go along with me. thanks! nate croson
hope that midwest drive back home from ORD was full of great memories to ponder... ticka-ticka-ticka as those wheels roll along on that pavement-asphalt... US interstates and highways have a different sound and rhythm than up north here!
it should be noted that as a result of my exorcism that it did NOT rain on Day 1. *grin* Haha! Chris, thanks for the time of my life! DEEP BLUES FOREVER!
