About The Project

Black Anima is an extreme metal project with a lot of inspiration from bands such as Satyricon, Aura Noir and Venom but also from bands like Motorhead, Metallica, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest. The lyrical content deals with the darker side of the human mind and the she-demon Black Anima, the mother of Antichrist.

The project started spring 2007 and the first four track demo was finished by summer the same year. Badly received but important for future path finding the "Chalice ..." demo was soon forgotten and work started on the four track demo called "Nocturnal Beasts". The second demo was released late 2007 and in mid April 2008 work was completed on a self produced album entitled Dark By Design. At the same time Astaroth (that lent his voice to some of the earlier songs) was made a permanent member of the project.

On september 19 2008 the second full length album "White Noise" was released. Only a very limited number for promotional purposes was printed and distributed. For the reminder of the demand a package was made available online. "White Noise" got some fairly good reviews with for instance the Metal Temple editor John writing things like: "BLACK ANIMA came out of nowhere to kick my sorry ass with some unadulterated music!" and "The Sweden based metallers are exactly what I call TRUE FUCKING METAL!".

Also distributed online the third EP "Hammer Of the North" was made available on 2009-02-15. The EP continued the Black Anima tradition of provoking response from its listeners. Again Metal Temple did a review, this time Mike held the pen and wrote things like: "... the vocals on here are something else ..." and "... great moments ...".

The wonderful zine "Funeral March" also reviewed "Hammer Of The North". Here's a short sample of the review: "... The EP is over 38 minutes and only contains five songs… the last song is over 21 minutes! And they manage to keep my interest throughout the whole song which is really good! You can get the whole EP online for free so get it now, it is worth it. If you want something refreshing that stands out from the rest you should definitely get this EP. ..."

Currently in the making is the third Black Anima full length, due for release early 2010.
