God Speed/Emp meets Replacements meets My Morning Jacket in the hallowed swamps of Louisiana. Dark Side of the Bayou for the thinking man's southern rock & roots needs.
Born: 2004 in the ashes of Santeria & numerous other Louisiana bands, Black Bayou is a psyouthern Gypsy-Death-Blues Atmospheric sextet that plays original compositions for The People. References nothing in the current over or underground, but is rooted in tradition and prone to experimental excursions of the atmospheric variety, which in some ways could be construed as a nod to the "jam band scene," albeit that would be the darker elements of said scene. Led by Dege Legg (ex-Santeria frontman) and composed of Louisiana music veterans from the Louisiana blues, rock, roots, and and underground scenes. Black Bayou is currently recording a full length record and looking for a label. Stay tuned. Much is in the works for 2006, including an appearance at SXSW, US tours, some video shorts, and beyond.
