In late 2008, singer/guitarist Kevin Tabisz started putting together
songs with the idea of keeping them short and simple, topped off with a catchy hook you'll find yourself repeating throughout the day. Kevin went on the search for like-minded musicians and discovered bassist/vocalist Allan Laskey, formerly of Rise of Man. Allan was also writing songs of the same genre and mindset. With ideas in motion and demos recorded, Kevin and Allan were introduced to drummer Kyle Kruszewski through Frankie O'Malley of The Safes. With inspiration from the great American classics such as Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly, complimented by the 1964 British invasion, the boys wasted no time getting down to business. After one practice, The Blackbelts were formed and there was no looking back! Within weeks of forming, The Blackbelts were already playing regularly in their native Chicago. They have shared the stage with Dexter Romweber (Dexter Romeweber Duo and Flat Duo Jets) to The Detroit Cobras, as well as making the rounds through the east coast and throughout the midwest.

No joke about that coke thing. Both Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry played in that game. Strawberry homered off of Nolan Ryan, which was pretty cool. 1986 was a good year for baseball.
