Although The Blackbirds history goes back to 1995, things didnt come together until 2001 when they were reborn as a quartet.
Leaving keyboards behind and changing to a classic rock formation with two guitars, bass and drums they finally found themselves playing the music they really loved.
The Music:
The two major songwriters in the band, Thomas and Thor, have combined for well over a hundred songs. As every song tend to have a life on its own, their music can be hard to categorize, but early influences by groups like The Beatles and The Faces mixed with anything between Metallica and Pink Floyd, gives them a diverse rock sound where (loud) guitars and vocal harmonies are the basics for many songs.
The Band:
Thomas is the singer and also plays guitar.
Hes a perfectionist whos never reached perfection and hes very thorough in everything he does. That means everything take a long time to complete, if its completed at all. As a kid he loved to take old radios and such apart but he never actually got to assemble them again.
Thomas likes old pinball machines and desperately wants to own one.
Thor is the lead guitarist and sings quite a few songs as well.
Being The Blackbirds official wrangler he can disagree with anyone at anytime.
Hes the youngest of The Blackbirds and a natural computer genius. Hes also the only one in the band who still knows how to divide fractions with one unknown variable.
Tore plays bass and is the bands heavy metal alibi.
Hes got a big record collection and is almost a walking rock music encyclopaedia.
His liking to Marilyn Manson and Conan comics combined with a slightly pessimistic view on life, can sometimes makes him quite grumpy. However most of the time Tore is a really nice guy.
Tommy is the drummer and undoubtedly the most talented musician among The Blackbirds. Hes probably the most talented beer drinker as well. Hes been playing drums and singing Elvis since he was a little boy and on the rare occasions when he walks up to the front of the stage and sing a song hes sure to leave the crowd breathless.
Rumours has it hes got a daytime job, something the others find most unlikely.
These four young men from Oslo have known each other for quite some time and that reflects in their music. Over the years The Blackbirds has become one of the best live bands in Norway.

Nilsen's Southern Harmony med Joachim Svendsen, Bjørn Nilsen, Erlend Hølland og Ole Christian Rydland spiller på Buckleys i Oslo torsdag 30 april (natt til første mai), og på Kulturpuben i Lillestrøm lørdag 2 mai. Eneste klubbjobber i Oslo-området på denne siden av sommeren.
