Kyle founded Black Book Press after finding out that getting published is harder than just sending your writing to every publisher under the sun. (After all someone actually has to like it). Kyle has self published five chapbooks of poetry: An Education in Rebellion, Knife To Neck, Room To Breathe, Waiting for a Car Crash, Battle Hymns for the Coming Storm (all titles $2 from Black Book Press)

Like Chris, Scott also thought it would be a good idea to have CD reviews in Black Book Press and two people with an idea are far more physically intimidating than one. Scott has written volumes of poetry and song lyrics and plays all sorts of instruments including the guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and mandolin. Chris joined the Black Book Press team after a successful stint in college radio and not so successful stint in commercial radio. He started writing music reviews, when he said to Kyle, "Hey! We should do music reviews!" So the CD reviews section was born. Chris writes poetry occasionally and used to be a sports writer for the Wednesday Journal.

We’re a small group of friends from Rome and its environs, more or less feelin’ uncomfortable for the various micro-scenes we’ve been hanging out. Now we’re trying to put into practice “our” point of view through a distro of material (especially paper) and a label in accordance with the D.I.Y. philosophy.
