About me:
I started my career at the age of 15 with a Jewelry and Design course at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor Michigan. The school offered a Beginning and Advanced Jewelry course, so I received special permission from the teacher Debbie Jackson and the principal to continue the classes for a total of five semesters. It was in those classes that I fell in love with working with jewelry.
At the age of 19 I took my portfolio to a very prestigious high end jewelry designer, Matthew C. Hoffmann, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was so impressed with my portfolio that he hired me on the spot. Working with this company has taught me a great deal of the skills I use today.
In 1997, I obtained my Graduate Gemologist degree in New York City from the Gemological Institute of America. After graduation, I had the opportunity to work with a very talented jewelry designer, Sam Shaw, in Northeast Harbor Maine.
In 2002, I began working in Chicago, IL with a job heading production for one of the largest jewelry wholesale manufacturers, Casting House, which supplies handmade custom jewelry to stores across the United States.
After several years working for Casting House, I branched out on my own. In July 2007, I opened my own store, Black Box Diamond in Hoffman Estates, IL. I now create my own unique style of custom jewelry and feature other Designer Collections.

It's great that you got into the industry at a "young" age and that you have such great passion for what you do! I enjoyed looking at your pictures. Your store looks spectacular.
