DON’T BELIEVE WHAT YOU HEAR ON THE RADIO....
We are a band, we are Black Cherry
From the heart of a Hackney basement to the streets of Williamsburg and New York City, Black Cherry has steadily built on their exciting live performance and continues to develop a sound that forges electro, dance, and rock ‘n’ roll.
Joining The Wombats for their early UK dates, the band has since played with 80s icon Siouxsie Sioux, as well as supporting Californian rappers Iglu & Hartly on tour for their recent debut album. (‘& Then Boom.’)
The last summer saw the bands’ UK festival debuts, playing The Isle of Wight and V Festival, topped with a high profile opening slot on Glastonbury’s ‘Other Stage.’ Back in London they impressed at the Old Blue Last as part of the London Airwaves Festival, and the last year culminated with an invitation to play SXSW in March ‘09.
After spending two weeks touring the US, playing killer shows in New York City, Brooklyn and Austin, the band was invited to play live on Radio New York and their EP has received airtime across Europe on several national radio stations, such as the BBC 6Music with Tom Robinson, even before its actual release.
The band continues to create a buzz based on word of mouth gleaned from their electric live shows.
With their debut EP released digitally via Amazon, Rhapsody, EMusic, ITunes and Napster, 2009 promises to be an even more exciting year for this rising band.
