Sounds Like
Described by some as a cross between Depeche Mode, Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, The Ramones, and Jane’s Addiction. Sheriff Scabs sounds oddly familiar, yet unlike anything you’ve heard before.
Sheriff Scabs is the solo project from Michael Scabs, the former front man of one time underground Chicago rock icons Black Cuntry Rock. Sheriff Scabs' sound ranges from Indie Alternative Industrial Punk Metal Alternative Gothic Pop and all things in between. Heavily influenced by artists such as David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, and Ministry, Sheriff Scabs brings an intense automated musical element to his anthems. And recently awestruck by large multi-instrument ensambles, he has decided to group many of his Chicago musician friends, as well as guests from national acts, to create a composite wall of sound for an unbelievable musical experience.
Sheriff Scabs has always been known for puting on a high energy, in your face, exhilerating, anamitive, mind-blowing rock and roll performance, each time he hits the stage. Local Chicago rock critics have compared his live show deportment to that of The Jesus Lizard's David Yow and The Stooges' Iggy Pop. And working on projects with artist friends such as members and former members of Bauhaus, Evanescence, The Arcade Fire, The Dresden Dolls, Voltaire, Fashion Bomb, Kill Hannah, Future Leaders of The World, Pigface, Black Tape For A Blue Girl, as well as some his fellow ex-Black Cuntry Rock bandmates, you never know who might join him on stage. But through every incarnation of Sheriff Scabs' band, one factor remains the same, you WILL see one amazing show and you never know what to expect when Sheriff Scabs takes the stage.
After founding Failure To Communicate Records in 2002 and partially working along side Ahab Rex, through solo projects as well as The Failure To Communicate Tribute Series of CDs, Shf. Michael Scabs has decided to scratch the musical itch that's been infecting over the years. He has been writing songs for his debut release, 'The Deep Six Holiday', since the original incarnation of Black Country Rock departed in 2003. He entered Jupiter Studios in St. Louis with his friends from Fashion Bomb and Future Leaders of the World / Machina frontman Phil Taylor at the helm of the production, to record the new material in April 2007. A few solo performances by Scabs with the help of some volunteers and stand-in musicians, were seen in Summer/Fall of 2006. One of which was at the Hedpeth festival, playing on the same bill as The Flaming Lips, Primus, They Might Be Giants and Kings of Leon among others. Scabs also met a new legion of friends and fans as he set out for an extended jog along The Dresden Dolls' '06 Fall US tour to promote ".2 CONTAMINATION: A Tribute To David Bowie", which Scabs both produced and played on. While recording the remaining tracks for his full length solo debut, Scabs plans to also record some of the BCR classics in one final homage to this late great band.
In January 2008, Scabs' unveiled his current band lineup featuring friends and members of other bands he played with previously. This lineup features Scabs on vocals and guitars, Mode on guitars, Bambi on bass, and DreG on drums. Their first live show together as a band was a sold out concert with Voltaire at Chicago's Abbey Pub, January 12, 2008. And the crowd response was overwhelmingly tremendous. This was the first of many groundbreaking concerts for the quick up and coming Chicago rock quartet.
So for those of you who already know, be prepared. For those of you who have yet to witness, You've been warned. You're going to a place that is Sheriff Scabs' Black Cuntry Rock. And once you're here, you will NEVER go back.

I was traveling across the Astroplane, deep in the realm of bending reality, when I came upon a rainbow of infinite colors. I then slid down the rainbow and landed in a sea of tranquility. Floating in this sea of tranquility was this golden hello I am giving to you.

Hey, thanks for the encouragement...we're playing in Chicago on Monday May 19th at the Elbo Room...11pm, come check us out guys....bring some friends, it'll be great time.
The Dolls pretty much top my list of "Music I would Die Without". I was fortunate enough to meet them at the January show, and they were some of the nicest people. And their shows completely blow everyone else I've seen out of the water. I've talked to another band who collaborated with them, and everyone seems to agree, Amanda and Brian are wonderful :)
LOL no, no... as much as I love myself some good Vicodin (or Adderall or... well we won't talk about all that) I just stumbled across your music a couple days ago, so it's all new to me. I will have to make sure to check out a show though!
I am greatly pleased to be part of the cause. I don't support things that don't rock my face off. So, therefore, you rock my face off. And I've had too much Nyquil so this may not make any sense...
I'm gonna shut up now. Keep making awesome music! xo
Thanks for friending The Rave / Eagles Club. Be sure to check out all of our upcoming shows including Story of the Year, Panic at the Disco, Kraftwerk, Hanson, DevilDriver, Lifehouse, T-Pain, Killswitch Engage & More.
