Mr. T is SEXY! Flava Flav is bananas-- (PUN INTENDED!)hehehe
Wendy Williams is insane:)
Seriously.......
I am an educator right now I love the babies I teach -- K-3rd grade science by day and my performance art at night.
My passion is the Urban America that surrounds me with decay
but inspires me to write. I love the various permutations of the black diaspora. A street corner permeated by Fela Kuti and Newports for $5.
Ultimately there is a silver lining. I am a Colin Powell Center for Policy Center New York Life Fellow. We have met with the Bloomberg Administration and other Policy Makers to improve the life, timber and air quality....
back to silly-ness......
yes I LOVE Austin Powers!
Rotting Watermelon .. Add to My Profile | More Videos
Yeah so what's with all the "watermelon" you may ask.........
well... my preoccupation started when in High School (HELL) pwk (privileged white kids)
asked me questions like "HOW WAS THE WATERMELON AND FRIED CHICKEN LAST NIGHT?" And the funny thing was that I hated watermelon because I didn't like the taste. In fact I don't like the taste of ANY melon.... cantaloupe, honeydew etc. I like CITRUS fruits.. back on the islands... I'd pick a LIME off a tree and eat it!
I didn't know "watermelon" was a stereotype, was racist because my parents are from Trinidad and Jamaica and I grew in Flatbush (Ethnocentrically Caribbean), hence I had very little engagement in African American culture and did not know the stigma associated with "Watermelon". Over the years I wrote a piece called "Committing That Black on Black Crime Called Blackface" which talks about my devolution into cooning as a coping mechanism and way of "making friends" so they would laugh WITH me NOT at me.

About me:
Howard University alumnus, writer/actress, Kanene Holder is most noted for SITCHAASSDOWN, her one-woman theatrical experiment which she calls “Shock and Awe with an Intellectual Aftertaste”, due to its amalgamation of farce and socio-political truth. Her newest creation Committing that Black on Black Crime Called Blackface was a well received multi-media, interactive pantomime about racist iconography. She performed at illustrious venues including Dixon Place for the NY International Fringe Festival 2005, The Schomburg, The African Burial Ground, Symphony Space and Uptown/Downtown at Henry Settlement Theater and The Gatehouse. Active in the community, Kanene is a New York Life Graduate Fellow for the Colin Powel Center for Public Policy at City College and currently teaches science at Harlem Children Zone. She received grants from Urban Arts Initiative, Franklin Furnace and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council to facilitate a monologue lab for middle and high school aged youth.
What does all that mean??!?!?!........
Well I am a satirist-- working within the confines of Shock and Awe to produce an Intellectual Aftertaste. The menu includes watermelon, fried chicken and belly-laughs. Nigger-itis is not grounds for a lawsuit- please remain alert at all times and have a safe day.
Below is the synopsis of my last performance --- many have inquired and confirmed their attendance.. lord have mercy on me!

Committing that Black on Black Crime Called Blackface
Shock and Awe with a Political Aftertaste
Performance by Kanene Holder, Direction by Aixa Kendrick, V
chashama performance window @ 266 West 37th Street
Satirist Kanene, writer and performer of solo-show SITCHAASSDOWN deemed "21 perfect-pitch snapshots of the black experience by a strong character actor." by Ellen Carpenter of New York Magazine, will premiere an interactive, multi-media, performance art installation excerpt called Committing that Black on Black Crime Called Blackface. C.T.B.O.B.C.C.B. pays homage to Buckwheat (BKWT) via a self-muzzled/pantomiming character who navigates a racist cauldron of images while staring into circus mirrors for glimpses and reconfirmations of reality, by repetitively applying and removing black-face makeup.
BKWT directs onlookers to release him from elements that haunt and define him including KFC fried chicken, watermelon, a noose, The Supreme Court’s reversal of Brown Vs. Board of Education and flashes of pristine Caucasian enclaves on two 20in screen televisions. These screens flash a motley crew of visual memorabilia and supplanted nostalgic references to "the good ole' days" of minstrel shows then and now. Disney’s beloved Uncle Remus and Tar Baby, Amos and Andy and the late great Al Jolson are juxtaposed with Snoop Dogg, Lil' Jon, the Ying Yang Twins and BET’s Hot Ghetto Mess and abruptly interrupted by record scratching and static, creating an amalgamation of farce and socio-political truth.
Who I'd like to meet: Wendy Williams, Barry Bonds, Curtis Mayfield, Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle, my future sons...... etc

Drs. LaMonda Horton Stallings (author of Mutha Is Half a Word) and Herukhuti (author of Conjuring Black Funk) will engage in a lively discussion about the politics of sexuality among people of African descent in the US. These two outspoken academics will also read excerpts from their groundbreaking works. Erotica author, Kimberly Q, (author of Orchids II Reality or Fantasy), will bring her signature, sultry style to facilitate the discussion and Q&A. Soul music recording artist, Nhojj (Soul Comfort), will open the evening with a special performance to get us in the mood to get between Black thighs and have a frank discussion about sex, sexuality, and Black folks. The evening is brought to you by The Black Gay & Lesbian Archive. Books &/or CDs of everyone's work will be available for purchase and signing.
