Blank Promotions presents - Noiserv, Trev Gibb & Esperi at The Cumberland Arms, Friday November 6th
David Santos is the name behind “NOISERV”, one of Portugal’s main players in the alternative music scene. In 2005 he released his first EP on Portuguese netlabel Merzbau to great critical acclaim; this led to him sharing the stage with artists such as I Like Trains, Yndi Halda and Tara Jane O’Neil all across Europe.
His first full length record entitled, “One Hundred Miles from Thoughtlessness” was released in 2008 and was widely considered as one of the best records of that year by the Portuguese media.
Live he utilizes instruments like guitar, melodica, metallophone, bells, synths, accordion, omnichord, megaphone, effects, toys, musicbox, and stylophone Santos weaves everything together into a delicious chilled mix. An extensive influences mix gives an indication of the sounds here, Sigur Ros, Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith, Badly Drawn Boy, Radiohead and Arcade Fire can all be heard.
“A wonderful new talent from out of nowhere, and an album that will prove irresistible to fans of Iron & Wine, Jose Gonzalez and melodic indie-folk” – Piccadilly Records

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
New to the Gizeh family, after previous releases on Bella Union and Nettwerk, Trespassers William return with a new EP full of their usual chilling warmth. A sensory overload of broken, distorted soundscapes, all the while pinned back by Anna-Lynne's unmistakably haunting vocals and words.
Trespassers spent two years touring with the likes of Damien Rice, Stereolab, Explosions in the Sky and Broken Social Scene before recording their second album with Dave Fridmann (Flaming Lips/Mercury Rev/Low/MGMT etc). Anna-Lynne has also recorded guest vocals on The Chemical Brothers 'Push the Button' record.
Trespassers William play at Cluny 2 on Sunday October 4th with support coming from Glissando and Dot to Dots.
"blending low-level hip-hop beats with Scorn-esque bass and elonated guitar riffs to remarkable effect. . . it's that awesome. . . the music is superb, the artwork and packaging equally good. . . [it's] warped shuffling genius. 300% necro, foo'! (5/5)" (Zero Tolerance magazine).
Necro Deathmort's This Beat Is Necrotronic is released on Distraction Records on August 31st, but you can get your hands on it for FREE (on a 'if you like it, why not buy the CD?' basis) in all of its 320kps mp3 glory at distractionrecords.com!
Its been selling faster than we expected, and we currently only have around a quarter of our stock left - so we thought we'd better you all know that if you want a copy then now would be a good time to pick one up! If you buy it from the link above then you're buying it direct from us, the label aren't taking a cut - so its a bit like Fair Trade for struggling musicians.
International mail-order is available, just follow the instructions.
Thank you very much, and sorry for making a mess of your profile. If its any kind of consolation, we don't have a MySpace bot, so I'm leaving these comments the old fashioned way. Three -and-a-half thousand of them. My life is so exciting.

For the last few months we've been locked away in bedrooms around the Northeast, and one particularly dingy practice room in Felling, writing new songs and perfecting a new set for you all.
So...you are all invited down to the Cooperage Monday 16th March for the small fee of £1.50 to view the latest spectacle plus support from Wooden Spoons. And... as an added gesture all who make an appearance are granted free entry into Connection afterwards!
Life has been crazy and I've been so busy! I do not go on Myspace and check up on you as often as I should. Hopefully you and the band are going great? I was listening to my iTunes on shuffle just now and one of your songs came on...
Reminded me how much I miss you and your music. Someday, hopefully soon, I'll get over "across the pond" and be able to see you live.
