"Favourite band of the night were Black Fortress. Vocals were impressive. Couldn't distinguish the riffs at all at times but never the less the riffs sounded heavy which was a good thing. Cover was well done also".
"He sounded so much like Rob Halford in places he could have easily have been Tin "Ripper" Owens mate. They actually did a cover of Breaking the Law too so I'm guessing their obviously fans of The Priest too. Singing-wise, he really was very good indeed, outstanding in fact".
"Black Fortress - I thought they were great, that singer was awesome. It was nice to hear something heavy for a change and not some self pitying whiny metal. I think the singer had some nerve problems and came across a bit cheesy in parts but that's what I like about metal it's a pantomime and they pulled it off brilliantly".
"Black Fortress surprised me having started off slowly (In my opinion) they really upped the ante towards the end of the set. Classic cover too, loved it!"
Black Fortress - "Having seen these in sound check I knew their set was going to be something to behold...Capable, confident playing, Both guitarists were very talented and it makes a change to see a metal band in Tamworth that actually has a guitar sound instead of a wall of horrible treble. Let's cut straight to the Chase though, Black Fortress' major strength is the astonishing vocalist... they are a real force to be reckoned with. "
Black Fortress: “Should have been between these and cavalier to go through. Very good musicians again and the notes the singer reached! Amazing”
Black Fortress “Good band, excellent vocalist (although he did the growly thing which I hate...). They seemed to lose their timing very slightly on rhythm changes, just for a bar or two - I think the nature of the music makes that sort of thing more noticeable than more leisurely music, like, say, the Ramones”.
“Black fortress was highly anticipated before the night and did not disappoint. The lead vocalist had an incredible voice, great dynamic and superb range. The only thing that let him down a bit was his confidence, which when he was singing he was great, but the rest of the time he looked a little too nice to be in a metal band. The backing band was also superb, tight together with plenty of technical ability”.
