Black Henbane is a one-man project, sometimes supported by some friends.
The name refers to a plant (Hyoscyamus niger in Latin) which has been used by medieval witches for many purposes, because of its remarkable properties. It is not only beautiful to look at and very poisonous, but also said to have healing, aphrodising and halluzinogenic effects - all qualities that also make up a good pop song. Black Henbane hopes to live up to at least some of these promises.
His prolific creativity thrives on inspiration from five decades of rock, pop and folk history and from modern and ancient poetry and literature.
Visitors to this site have described his sound as unique, magical, dark, mysterious and enigmatic. The imagery of his lyrics has been characterized once as “bleak yet lush”. Connections have been drawn to the work of artists as diverse as The Velvet Underground, Nick Cave, Nick Drake, Ry Cooder, Syd Barrett, and – no kidding – even Buddy Holly.
Black Henbane has a second home at MySpace. "A SUNDIAL IN A GRAVE" is a page with songs by Black Henbane on poems by the great English 17th century poet John Donne.
Come take a ride on a rocket ship with me to the outer reaches of the cosmos. We can take the time to look around and find out all the great and magical things about Einstein and physics and the world we live in.
I just wanted to let you know that I've uploaded some new tracks (as well as new versions of others) and I would be grateful for any feedback that you could spare. All tracks are taken from my forthcoming album so if you would be interested in a copy, please let me know.
Stay well in the meantime and hope to hear from you soon.
Thank you so much for introducing me to your circle of friends.
What a treat! I find your pulsing, angst filled anthems to be hauntingly beautiful, hypnotic, transfixing, fresh and unique, just my sort of music, and something that I know will keep on drawing me back again and again. I can't thank you enough for seeking me out to share such joyous treasures, except to add bravo!!!
Wishing you happiness and tranquility in all things.
Here's a peaceful scene which I photographed myself, not far from where I live, to add to your local German greenery, as a souvenir upon which to reflect, and for good luck.

I value my garden more for being full of blackbirds than of cherries, and very frankly give them fruit for their songs.
