About me:

Give the Gift of Knowledge Campaign EDC Creations, The Sankofa Literary Society and The Black Authors Network announce the launch of their 2009-2010 "Give the Gift of Knowledge Campaign," bringing readers and authors together to help improve literacy. In 2004, during the Christmas holidays, Ella Curry, the founder of EDC Creations, reached out to women's groups and literary organizations to help promote early literacy by giving new books to children from low income homes. Today, the "Give the Gift of Knowledge Campaign," seeks to expand even further! “Based on the “each one teach one,” model, our goal is to help people introduce reading and new books to their family and friends,” says CEO and founder of EDC creations, Ella Curry. “Instead of giving expensive gifts that don't shape lives----let's “Give the Gift of Knowledge” and help to strengthen our future generations!”

Please join the campaign by becoming a blog tour host, radio interviewer, chat host or by purchasing one of the books featured here and giving it to a friend. We welcome the community into the program and will support any of our partners with promotion in return. Spread the word.... we want to bring more entertainment, education and enlightenment to the community! Review the books on this site and invite the authors to meet your family and friends in person or via the phone.

Please subscribe to our blog for up-to-date details and personal interviews from today's most empowering leaders and authors.

Who I'd like to meet:

EDC Creations 2009 Authors on Tour Spotlight

Purchase books by the authors on the 2009 Holiday Book Tour by clicking on the book cover images!

I want to meet all the people out there changing the face of literature and the arts. There are so many people I wish I could have met in the past, and hope to met in the future.

"Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which were overcome while trying to succeed. . . ." --Booker T. Washington

The Sankofa Literary Society and EDC Creations PR would like to pay tribute to the men and women who shaped our music, arts, and literature by showcasing our leaders past and present. People such as the owners of Karibu Book Stores of MD/DC/VA, Lena Horne, Gwendolyn Brooks, Alex Haley, James Weldon Johnson, Ntozke Shange, August Wilson, Ossie Davis, Paul Robeson, Archibald H. Grimke, Maulana Karenga, Martin Robinson Delany, Benjamin Hooks, Elijah Muhammad, Ella Baker, Eldridge Cleaver, Fannie Lou (Townsend) Hamer, Kweisi Mfume, and many more.

They are our Visionaries — our living history — extraordinary elders, from every field: the performing arts, politics, literature, photography, social activism, law, education, and more. Shaping our past, and our futures, in so many unexpected and intriguing ways.

They make us laugh, cry, and sit in wonder at their wisdom. They share their triumphs and regrets. But most of all, they challenge us, the next generations, to move forward with them to an exciting future. That future is inevitably connected to a complex past, which now can finally be understood, and conveyed, in their own words. You can view a permanent archive of our Visionaries from the past here.

Take your time and explore our space here; while you are here please take part in our motivating blog discussions. WE want to hear from you. You have a voice and we are giving you the medium to be heard!

Thank you,

Ella D. Curry, President/CEO of EDC Creations PR
