Blackjack is a bluegrass band from the Czech Republic. Since 1997 Blackjack plays bluegrass music on the edge between traditional and contemporary style.
Becoming an emerging artist of the year 2000 in the Czech Bluegrass Music Association Award was the first success of Blackjack. In years 2001-2007 Blackjack regularly took the second place in category "band of the year"!
The biggest success is becoming the nr.1 Audience Award Winners, European World of Bluegrass 2009.
The latest recording of Blackjack "No One Like You" was released in May 2007. The CD was very positively reviewed in European bluegrass magazine Bluegrass Europe (…Blackjack especially after this third CD has proven to be a mature force in European bluegrass…). Blackjack also appeared on the cover of this prestigious European bluegrass magazine. Album "Be on Time", which was released in 2004, became a recording of the year in Czech Bluegrass Music Association Award for 2004. CDs released at the European World of Bluegrass festivals 2000, 2002-2007 include live recordings of Blackjack.
You can meet the band at events across all Europe. E.g. - Blackjack regularly takes part in the famous Banjo Jamboree festival (Caslav, Czech Republic) and in the European World of Bluegrass (Voorthuizen, Holland). This festival won Award of the International Bluegrass Music Association for Event of the year 2003. Blackjack appears in the Czech Republic, Holland, Germany, Norway, Slovakia, Hungary...
