| About Black Lodge Microdrome |

A BRIEF HISTORY: In Black Lodge Video's first 3 years of business, we only occupied the ground level floor of our building where the video store has always been. We'd heard from our landlord what the levels above us were for years. He told us that there was a recording studio on the second floor of the building that he had built many years prior for personal and commerical use. It having a whole seperate entrance not accessable to us, and not really being into music recording, we just always dismissed that floor as nothing of interest to us. Cut to: 2003 - we're asked if we want to takeover the upstairs as our own. So, we see the upstairs for the first time, and i'll tell you this, it was better than anything our imagination could've ever come up. All the upstairs walls are inlaid wood stripes and pieces of varying sizes in random and uniform angles. Once at the top of the stairs you're lead into a medium size, wood paneled recording room. This room is simply a work of art. It's quite obvious that a lot of love and care went into it's creation. Designed with strange ceiling angles and amazing line formations from the abstract wood layout(go to "pics" to see). This composition along with the soundproofing provides the enviroment with a "room sound" that is close to untouchable. Along with the other subrooms, cubby holes, and killer design of the rest of the floor, we felt like kids in the ultimate treehouse. Needless to say after that day we incorporated the floor into Lodge. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So, since having taken on the room 4 years ago, along with the vital assitance of Mr. Walker, I've tried to utilize the room to it's fullest potential. By hosting music shows at times when all the elements were right. Being that my appreciation for music rivals, and at times overshadows my love for film, it seemed to only make since to create an unofficial sideproject, and turn this amazing room into a venue of sorts. The combination of the room's character, the crystal clear thundering sound, and the fact that it's all above the sickest video store in the land, hopefully has and will continue to provide the bands and patrons with a memorable experience of the unusual. The only downside to all of this i guess would be it's capacity. Band and gear plus 60-70 patrons is about it's maximum. I really don't see that as such a bad thing though. Intimate is perfect. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Most of the bands we've hosted to date have been metal or aggressive sounds, but i'd book a limbless gospel fiddler if he/she were badass enough. I am very open to all sounds...even limbless gospel fiddling. -bryan ++++++++++++++++++++++++ STORE/VENUE ADDRESS: 831 S. COOPER - MEMPHIS, TN - 38104
