The Money Shot Chopper.
I spent alot of time cutting up pics and drawing what i thought i wanted the bike to look like. I finally decided on a design and had a custom built frame made to my specifications. The bike was designed around the engine which is a 1979 honda cb750 that i painted and polished the aluminum covers on. I went with it to save cost as i was a student when i started the project. The front end is raked to 44deg in the neck and 6deg in the trees to provide proper rake and trail. This rake required a 12" over soft tail front end. Finishing out the front is a 21"
60 spoke front wheel and a fender that i fabricated myself. I also fabricated the handlebars to fit harley controls. I also fabricated custom chain grips and footpegs which were brass dipped when finished. I machined custom risers and had them chromed. I went with very little chrome on the bike to save cost "chrome dont get you home". It also forced me to get more creative. The gas tank was inspired by the style of Billy Lane from Choppers Inc. I shaped the top of the tank to flow with the shape of the chieftain hood ornament off of an early 50's pontiac. A friend found it on a car deep in the woods with trees growing through it. The chain drive is offset to clear the rear tire after the engine with a jack shaft mounted under the fake oil tank. The rear tire is a 250 width mounted on a 60 spoke 18" rim. I also fabricated the rear fender from scratch. The brakes are harley dyna and modified had to be modified to work. The linkage is a bycicle chain conected to a brake pedal fabricated from an old model t ford wrentch. I shaped the seat and wrapped it with pig skin leather. The exhaust is 4 into 4 custom shaped and covered with header wrap with stainless exhaust tips. Before paint work was started i was approached by Money Shot energy drink to use my creation for advertising. They sponsered the body and paint work. I was assisted greatly by Brad Helman with the paint and body work. Pinstriping was done by Adam Bushmick and the graphics were done by Vital Signs and Graphics.
