Bio BLACKMANN - Roberts Parks known as « BLACKMANN » hails from Trench Town, Kingston Jamaica, home of reggae music. He attended Denham Town Primary school and started singing at an early age. At 14 years old, Robert would go to school to Chancery Lane the home of Techniques Record Shop, where all the artistes such as Trinity, Dillinger, Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, and others would hang out. He would sing for them and people passing by and they would drop coins in a pan. The Artistes would then give him the money to take home to his mother. This convinced his mother that he really could sing. In the 1981 his first break came, while following Sound Systems around Kingston, when at a “Tippa-Tone” dance “Massive Dread” handed him the microphone. On hearing new talent King Tubbys recorded his first tune called, “Labamba”. At that time a young Studio Engineer working with King Tubbys called Prince Jammys also herd about the talent and asked him to voice. Other producers kept voicing this bright new singer who had a Dennis Brown kind of sound.
Jack Scorpio, Robert Livingston (Shaggy’s manager) and Jah Thomas were other famous producers who had serious interest in Blackmann. The Penthouse Label also produced collaboration with Capleton and Blackmann called “Free Your Meditation”.
Sir Coxon Dodd of Studio One produced Blackmann’s first number one called ”Nobody can’t stop me” on the Studio One Label, which was released in Bermuda in 1985. His first album called “Expensive and Deer” was released in 1996 in Canada as “LITTLE ROBERT”.
King Jammys in 1989 included him on an all-star compilation album called Rockers Island with Gregory Isaacs and other greats. French Reggae Artist PIERPOLJAK was introduced to Blackmann by “MAKA LOX” his guitarist in Jamaica. Pierpoljak was so impressed with Blackmann’s melodies that, he invited him to record two tracks combination style on his album called “Stim Turban”.
After the success of that album, Pierpoljak invited Blackmann to be his opening act. Blackmann has been touring with Pierpoljak for the past tree years. Recently in Jamaica, Blackmann worked on “Saddle to the East” and Capleton’s “St Mary wi come from”.
“In the street” and “herbs fi smoke” are the first releases from his upcoming album, from SELASSIE GOD RECORDS by Rohan “MAKA LOX” Gordon, and distributed by Tuff Gong International ltd. Kingston Jamaica.
“In The Street” and “Herbs Fi Smoke” are singles that you must have in your collection, now avaible on 45” vinyl.
Robert Parks “Blackmann”, has brought an original melodic sound that Reggae as been longing for, since Dennis Brown. His conscious lyrics and solid baritone voice will have fans only wanting more of this seasoned explosive singer.
MAKA LOX
Bio MAKA LOX - Guitarist, Producer, Arranger, extraordinary Rohan Gordon known as “MAKA LOX” was born on 1st Street, Trench Town, Kingston Jamaica.
Like most famous singers and musicians, Maka Lox was brought up in the church, and at an early age became interested in the musical accompaniment he heard every Sunday.
This inspired him to learn to play the guitar and his father saw the interest he had in the music especially the guitar, and bought him his first guitar. He immediately started to attend rehearsals for the church band and later became a member.
Whilst attending Garvey Maceo High School his only interest was his guitar and music. In 1993 Rohan decided to attend the Jamaica School of Music.
Rohan spent three years learning to play under master guitarist MAURICE GORDON and the legendary world renowned guitarist ERNEST RANGLIN.
Mr Ranglin was so impressed with this young talented guitarist that he gave him a guitar, which he still as dear to his heart.
GEORGE BENSON came to perform on The Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival in 1996.
While in Montego Bay Mr Benson invited Maurice Gordon to come and jam with him. Maurice called Maka Lox and invited him to come to Mo Bay with him. The jam session was an unbelievable experience and it changed Maka’s musical outlook forever.
After leaving the school of music Maka Lox in 1996 went on his first tour with artistes such as MAX ROMEO, DILLINGER and THE MIGHTY DIAMONDS. Tours became more frequent and after awhile, a regular thing touring three times per year, with various artistes.
French Reggae Superstar PIERPOLJAK in 1998 invited Maka lox to join his band as his guitarist working with the international Reggae drummer “HORSEMOUTH” Wallace.
Pierpoljak won the French Reggae Grammy Award, and so much attention was given to his band and awesome drummer and guitarist combination.
Universal Barkley EMI contracted Maka Lox to produced Poljak’ next album called “Stim Turban” in Jamaica. Maka Lox was then contracted to produce rhythm tracks for other producers, which became mega hits.

These achievements have inspired Maka to start his own Record Label and Production Company called “SELASSIE GOD RECORDS” with collaboration in Belgium.

Actuellement en tournée en Angleterre pour son album Spektrum, il fera un crochet par Roubaix pour CAR GRAPHIK 2. Explosif sur scène, flow ahurissant, une énergie de folie… bref un show à ne pas louper !!
