Hi. I'm Jakar Afterglow and Orpheus is my solo project where i play and record everything.
i spent my early years listening to Iron Maiden and Blind Guardian, and obscure goth bands like fields of the nephilim and return to khafji. i couldn't play ANY of it. it wasn't until i heard nirvana that i was finally able to jam a full song. while it's thanks to nirvana that i ever started as a musician, it was the soundtracks to Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger(RPG, for playstation 2-i played the emulated version) that forever changed the way i compose and arrange my music. They're composed by Yasunori Mitsuda.
the name Orpheus is based on a Greek Myth about a half-god that was supposedly able to write songs so groovy that bricks could get up and dance, and miserable enough to make the Furies and Persephone of hades weep. According to Neil Gaiman's Sandman series he's Dream's son. i get some of my tunes or riffs when i'm asleep. anyway i like that name. it's short.
About the three songs here: a large scale amphibian assault and even this will pass are old tracks...as you can see i was quite lousy at programming drums. kinda simple huh? death is a newer song, instrumental. it will be in my upcoming demo, but with better sound.
