BlackPerl is a rock soul band based in Atlanta, Georgia. BlackPerl has been in existence for a decade, opening for the athletes at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and since playing and writing original music in Atlanta, New York and throughout the southeast. An originals band, self-contained with high, live energy performances. The band members are:
BC Bryant, lead vocals, songwriter and co-arranger. Arthur Turner, keys, co-songwriter-/arranger; J. Nicholas Williams, Sr., dummer, co-songwriter; Jermaine Rand, lead guitar; Billy Odum, lead & acoustic guitar, Ted Stevens, bass guitar. Having been reared in the church, most of these members are gospel-based musicians and performers. "We added rock to the mix. Our influences speak volumes. If Prince, Otis Redding and Donnie Hathaway are in you whole, then i don't think you can get it wrong." Says Bryant, "I write from life experiences and what I imagine to exciting and moving experiences, not always happy and not verbose. I truly want to tell the story." Nothing is off limits with this band. So the art of BlackPerl's music is telling the story on record and on the live stage. Those would be BlackPerl's strongest suits.
BlackPerl has had the pleasure and coveted opportunity to play some great stages in its tenue, from multiple dates at New York City's famed Bitter End, Armed Forces Entertainment, The Seattle Rock Soul Music Festival, Earth Link Live, Best Buy Amphitheatre, Atlanta's world renowned Music Midtown Festival, The Cotton Club (multiple dates), Atlanta's The Tabernacle, Coca Cola's Roxy Theatre to The Montreux Atlanta Music Festival (multiple dates) and many college venues to date. Dear friends, on the 5th of December we organize in cooperation with the mayoress of Cologne/Lindenthal and Amnesty International an event for the 60th birthday of Amnesty International. Udo and I will play a concert, and also provide an installation. We want to hang up a big canvas on which people from the whole world show their associations on the subject Human rights to show them to all the visitors of the event. We would be glad very much if you wrote down your thoughts, feelings and imaginations on the subject Human rights in our MySpace-Blog.
