BlackPoet Ventures is a multimedia performance arts and entertainment company dedicated to promoting, supporting and enhancing the oral tradition artistry of poetry and spoken word movements of the African Diaspora.
Formed July 2005 because of a passion for poetry, Black Poet Ventures set out to bring poetry and literature to the stage in theatrical and thematic contexts in order to take audiences beyond open mic and slam poetry arenas.
A theatre critic stated: "While literature is often meant to be simply a blueprint for performance, the poetic theatre being returned to us by the performance poets and the like are making the literature of the theatre more interesting... the poets and writers are helping to reinvigorate the fetish we had for live performance to begin with."
Our goals to make performance poetry more interesting include:
• Building business and community partnerships to further the support for and growth of poetry and spoken word movements
• Providing quality educational and inspirational entertainment through theatrical productions that showcase poets and spoken word as well as expose poetic literary to various audiences
• Establishing economic avenues and growth opportunities for artists
• Creating effective marketing campaigns that honor the oral tradition and that bring poetry back to the people
• Researching the oral tradition to successfully implement workshops and document poetic legacies
Autumns beautiful magic transforms Summer
into Winter. The brilliant colors, the
cool breeze, & frosty nights signal excitement of upcoming holidays. Listen to the harmonic laughter of beautiful
people, the honk of migrating geese or
the purr of happy cat . Sweet
Blessings, Rhonda Grace
Spiritually, You are like a tree, standing tall and strong With roots that go much deeper than our wrong; See, you remember the richness of our history, Before slavery, When we ruled as kings and queens, Scientists and inventors, Building empires.
And today, you bear the mark of our ancestors; You are a strong black man, Both physically and mentally You have a fruitful mind With a heart of gold, Your thoughts, words and actions are aligned You can do whatever you put your mind to, There's nothing stopping you from reaching your goals
So let's work together to build a future, One where the sun always shines in our minds Where happiness reigns supreme, Where we live a life of abundance, And live the life of our dreams.

AN UPLIFTING AND INSPIRATIONAL READ ABOUT REALITIES
IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY
KATRINA
THEY TOOK SO MUCH FROM US
WHEN THE TIME CAME
WHEN THE HURRICANE CAME
IT WASHED AWAY THE SINS
IT WASHED AWAY THE PAIN
THERE WAS NO HOPE
NO SALVATION
NO WAY OUT
THEY TRAPPED US IN THE CITY AND
WOULDN'T LET US OUT
TO SEE MY PEOPLE FLOATING AWAY
THEY WERE WASHED AWAY
SO MANY ARE LOST STILL
TO THIS DAY
IT COULD TAKE A LIFETIME
BUT IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME
ONLY HOPING THIS TRAGEDY WAS NOT IN VAIN
RELIEF CAME TOO LATE
AFTER THE HURRICANE
AFTER THE PAIN
AFTER THE STARVING
AFTER THE RAIN
AFTER THE DEVASTATION
AFTER THE BLAME
I LOST LOVED ONES
YOU LOST LOVED ONES
OUR LOVED ONES LOST LOVED ONES
ALL THE FEMA AND RED CROSS
CAN'T BRING THEM BACK
BRING MY PEOPLE BACK
BRING THEIR LIVES BACK
THEIR PLAN WAS TO TEAR DOWN THE PROJECTS
AND DO AWAY WITH THE BLACKS
THEIR PLAN WAS TO SEND US AWAY
SO WE WOULD NEVER COME BACK
WE WERE LOST
MISPLACED
OUR PAST ERASED
OUR MEMORIES ERASED
OUR HOPES AND DREAMS WERE WASHED AWAY
IN STREAMS OF BLOOD INFESTED
DISEASE INFESTED WATER
BUT WE REFUSE TO GO QUIETLY INTO THE WIND
OR LOST WITHIN THE RIVER
WE RAISED OUR VOICES
SCREAMS OF HELP US
RUNG ACROSS THE NATION
INDENTED IN HISTORY
WE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN
THEY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN
IT TOOK THE NATIONS EYES WATCHING
TO SAVE US
AND THROUGH ALL THE FRUSTRATION
WE NEVER GAVE UP
WE STAYED STRONG
WE GOT BY
WE SURVIVED
BUT TO THIS DAY A PIECE OF ME DIES INSIDE
FOR THOSE WHO DIED
AND THOSE WHO SHED EVERLASTING TEARS
FOR YEARS OF UNEQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
AND SOCIAL INJUSTI
BLACK IS LOVE(A COLLECTION OF POEMS) AVAILABLE @AMAZON.COM, CREATESPACE.COM
THIS BOOK IS ABOUT BLACK EMPOWERMENT AND ABOUT DIFFERENT
REALITIES IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY
I place you on a pedestal
Because that’s were you belong
Some people write raps
Others write songs
But I write poems
And I will fill your thought’s
With beautiful symmetries
And queen like comparisons
Cast all doubt that you are what I live for
I only exist to see you smile
And although It took quite awhile
You will be honored for the strength you possess
To witness your achievements we must be blessed
In a man’s world
You are a black women exceeding all expectation’s
Holding a race together through all trials and tribulations
You are the most high of heavenly creations
And I just want to say Thank You
