In the summer of 2002, Steve had grown tired of playing in multiple cover bands around town. He had been playing with veteran performers Mike & Ryan in another original music project as well, but it was not going anywhere.
The three came together and decided to strike out on their own. Ryan, Mike & Steve all loved the classic rock n roll sound and knew there was an audience. Black Rain was founded as a vehicle for this style of music and as a step toward building their own musical future with the originals that Steve had been writing for years.
Black Rain exploded onto the bar circuit in New Orleans! Almost overnight they were playing in venues across New Orleans, Metairie, the Northshore, Chalmette & Destrehan. A bit apprehensive about playing original rock n roll music alongside covers in a town that traditionally frowns on original music, they were pleasantly shocked to find people in the audience returning show after show and singing the originals along with them!
