Mike Ogletree is a musician who played drums with legendary 80's Scottish rock bands Simple Minds and Fiction Factory. In 1956 he was the first child of African/American descent to be born in Ayrshire, Scotland - Burns Country where he was raised an Afro-Celt. - Mike currently lives and works in New York City - His latest work, inspired by the poems of Robert Burns, borrows from the title of the poet's first publication: THE KILMARNOCK EDITION SONGS CHIEFLY IN THE SCOTTISH DIALECT. A unique blend of world/rock/reggae music, sung by Mike in the Scottish dialect of his and Burns birthplace. Composed, performed and produced entirely at his studio in Brooklyn NY The Kilmarnock edition is Mike's debut as a solo artist.
Hey.
Did you know that the first African-American to be born in Scotland is alive and living in Brooklyn, New York?
No sh*t!
Yeah, Mike Ogletree, calls himself Blaxcot, Black Scot. Get it?
Used to play drums with the Simple Minds, he's Old Skool. Got a new album coming out of funky reggae Scottish poetry by Robert Burns. Makes videos too. On Myspace and Youtube.
Guys got talent.
Damn straight.
The words are Burns
The music and pictures are blaxcot.

Hello my friend, are you back home or still on your travels? Amy invited us to a musical night she's having on Thursday, still unclear whether we'll manage there or not.
If you get a chance, please take a listen to our first New Age release "Instrumental Piano Music" by Solo Piano Relaxing Music. We'd love to know what you think of it!
Hey there, Here's one from left field... Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat? A while back I came across some very disturbing information, which inspired me to make this video: Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4 Both artistic (ensure you've good enough sound to enjoy the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice. Though the source materials are somewhat aged, the fundamentals remain relevant today. I encourage all to visit the YouTube web page above to learn more (Show your support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly re-post and circulate as widely as possible. Help to raise awareness. Say have you checked out my web site (http://www.faberoptime.com) recently? Take care and keep in touch. Best, Faber. "Just a guy trying to make the world a better place."

I think your version of Green Grow The Rashes O, is the most enjoyable i have heard to be honest, i love the funky style. Well done for bringing in a new generation of fans to Burns.
Have a grand weekend! If you know how to attach graphics now, please tell me. Is this MySpace’s way to say, “Quit using our band width!” Let’s strike! Still have a grand weekend! ~ Love, Janet, the militant, “Bard’s sidekick”
