The Doppler effect , named after Austrian physicist Christan Doppler,
is the change in frequency of a soundwave for an observer moving
relative to the source of the wave. It is commonly heard when a vehicle
sounding a siren or horn approaches, passes and recedes from an
observer. Doppler was born today in 1803.
Anders Celsius was born in Uppsala, Sweden, on 27 November 1701. In
1742 he proposed the Celsius temperature scale which takes his name. An
astronomer from an early age, his earliest research involved the study
of the Aurora Borealis and he was the first to suggest a connection
between these lights and changes in the magnetic field of the Earth.

Agatha Christie wrote some 90 books and plays including her most
popular one, The Mousetrap, which premiered in London on this date in
1952. It would become the longest running play in theatre history. At
the end of each performance of this 'whodunit' one of the cast asks the
audience members to keep the identity of the killer a secret, so as not
to ruin the show for others.
Virgogray Press is an indie publisher, proudly making chapbooks and presenting the world with fresh poetry from genuine voices. We're just wanting to add to the many great works out there and are happy to be part of the literary movement! We are currently accepting manuscript submisssion for chapbook publication, but not for long. On Dec. 1, 2009, we will no longer be taking submissions for chapbook length manuscripts becuase we already have plenty of great poets to come in 2010, but we are still accepting general poetry submissions for other publications, so if you are a poet who wants to have your work published, or maybe wants others to read your work in the form of a publication, check out our website for details and maybe you can hop along with the Virgogray Press familiy, too!
Thanks again, and have a great week!!!
