Hailing from Kent, Washington, a suburban city set in the outskirts of Seattle, Black Stone blends a classic, older sound with a heavy, blues influence; creating their signature, Southern Rock sound. Comprised of self taught musicians, Matt Flynn (Drums), Dennis Flynn (Guitar), Tony Jundul (Lyrics), Brian King (Organ/Piano) and Alex Lathum (Bass), Black Stone has framed the foundation of their careers by creating material that is lyrically and rhythmically strong. As their music paints the spectrum of cross-cultural and cross-genre appeal, their fan base fills the generational gap. Black Stone uses every song as a soundtrack of reflection and life's eternal. Through trial, tribulation and triumph, each band member has been able to use Black Stone as a platform to deliver their frustrations and fantasies to the world. Influenced by such industry artists who include Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Beatles, Sam Cooke and Otis Redding, Black Stone released their self-titled, debut LP in September of 2008. The album is comprised of an array of tracks that were recorded in the confines of a studio setting, as well as tracks that were recorded before the presense of a live audience. The entire album was produced, collectively, by Black Stone; alongside the engineering talents of Dan Slinger. Definitive tracks, She Left Texas, as well as Death Has A Scent, are songs that illustrate the unity of the group, as well as their artistic interpretations of Life and Death.
As Black Stone promotes their music to the masses, in and around various Seattle club and bar venues, the band is also preparing for their up and coming, album release party. Since 2003, Black Stone has garnered recognition by winning The Rowdy Nights Band of the Month contest in Nashville, as well as securing online, radio airplay from various world wide web sites. These accolades have contributed to the levels of Pride that each member of Black Stone feels regarding the juxtaposition of their Southern Rock and Blues style. As Black Stone continues to write and record music that can be used as dance tracks and slow grooves, they ultimately seek exposure on a scale that will present increased album sales, as well as a cross country tour. Collectively, Black Stone is on the pulse of emerging as the supreme staple of a new genre of secular music.
