About me:
Black Swan State Theatre Company is Western Australia’s Flagship Theatre Company and one of Australia’s foremost theatre companies. Since its inception in 1991, Black Swan has earned both critical and popular acclaim for its world premiere productions and highly distinctive (re)interpretations of international theatre classics – all of which are infused with the unique culture of Western Australia.
These have included such landmark productions as Bran Nue Dae, Sistergirl, Tourmaline, Corrugation Road (winner of the prestigious The Age Critics’ Award), The Merry-Go-Round in the Sea, Cloudstreet (Perth, Sydney, London and Dublin seasons) and The Odyssey.
The company has undertaken co-productions with all of Australia’s leading theatre companies, including Company B Belvoir Street, Playbox [Malthouse Theatre], State Theatre Company of South Australia, Sydney Theatre Company, Queensland Theatre Company and Melbourne Theatre Company, and also with local companies including deckchair theatre and Steamworks Arts Productions.
Black Swan has also maintained a strong commitment to commissioning new work and in recent years has premiered exciting new plays such as Ian Wilding’s The Carnivores and Neil Gladwin’s Red Dog. New Artistic Director Kate Cherry will lead Black Swan, as the designated Resident Company, into Perth’s New Performing Arts Venue in 2010...

Just a point, Jundamarra was rubbish guys. The actor who portrayed Lindsay in the play played too many parts. The play was confusing, cues were missed and there was major overacting by Mrs Bligh.
Seeing The Caucasian Chalk Circle on Tuesday. It better be better.

Dear Black Swan Theatre Company,
With a swing in my step I attend my last day of work for the year today. I can not attribute my heady wistful demeanour to next week’s potential over eating, consumerism or sleeping in, but to the completion of “Improvisation: Tools for actors” or as we knew it the “Sam Longley is an Impro God...(and he’s really really tall)” Improvisation programme. I feel privileged to have participated in this programme which culminated in last nights “Please laugh at us because we are your friends and this is free” one night only show.
Sam Longley delivered innovative, intriguing and inspirational classes on a weekly basis leaving me looking forward over the last 10 weeks, not to the weekend, but to Thursday nights. The two hours at the quaint Masonic Hall in Nedlands with its quirky automated bathroom lighting has been the highlight of my week with class seeming to finish too quickly, too early, too soon – I am sure someone can blame day light saving for that too. I enjoyed classes so much I even arranged a recent overseas trip around Thursday night’s!
I am poking Santa this morning with a new Christmas wish list – I hope he is his checking facebook. No I pod, Prada handbag or over priced bath products, all I want for Christmas is more Impro. Please Santa can we have more…
Best wishes for the festive season,
Jennifer Forlonge

"There are nights
When the wolves are silent
And only the moon howls.
How like a queen
Comes forth the lonely Moon
From the slow opening curtains
Of the clouds
Walking in beauty
To her midnight throne!
On Halloween,
Witches come true;
Wild ghosts escape from dreams.
Each monster dances in the park....
Shadows of a thousand years
Rise again unseen,
Voices whisper in the trees,
"Tonight is Halloween!"
Backward, turn backward,
O Time, in your flight
Make me a child again
Just for to-night!"

Esoteric Writings, Subba Row:
Looking around the universe
nothing so strongly impressed me,
as the system of division of labour which pervades it.
Practical results never spring
from solitary causes;
they are ever the resultants
of the more or less divergent effects of an inextricable plexus
of diverse causes;
It is from contrasts,
that all the joys and beauties
of the world arise;
it is from the equilibrium
of antagonistic forces
that the Universe subsists.
All progress springs from difference; all evolution is the result
of differentiation;
as in the great,
so in the spiritual;
as in the visible
so in the unseen universe.

I have recently been to the Pilbara iron rio tinto Drama camp in Karratha.
I also went last year, I think that the camps are fantastic and Phil and the rest of the team do an awesome job. Each year I leave with more confidence and friendships. I learn so much on the camps.
I would just like to thank black swan.
