Established 1st November 2007 after Mick Hutton and Andy Pilgrim arranged to meet in the Griffin Pub Danbury Essex after making contact via Musofinder Website.
Formed in the fall of 2007 by Mick Hutton (Guitar/Vocals), Andy Pilgrim (Drums/Vocals) and Andy Matthews (Bass/Vocals), all three of us shared a place in the same generation and just wanting to have good fun making good music.
Within a couple of years then band can boast numerous gigs in Essex, Kent and London plus local radio airplay with over 20 original songs played in both Electric and Acoustic sets. Drummer Andy has decided to dedicate more time to his other bands Navacross and One Shot Down and Bass Andy wants to pursue a lifelong dream as a keyboard player so best of luck guys and thanks for being a part of getting Blackwater Sunset on the road.
Enter Barry Eaves on Drums and Rick Bonnici on Bass in the summer of 2009 which helped move the band forward again especially when we were joined by Chris Hutton on Guitar and Robyn Slater on Harmonica and Sax around the same time. This really filled out the band's sound and gave the songs a new character. Barry has since moved on with the band Gunrunner (excellent Rock Covers and who also do a Cream tribute act as Creamful) and Rick is concentrating on his driving school business. Thanks guys and good luck!
As of May 2010 we were joined by Robin Mitchell on Drums, Dan Fraser on Bass/Guitar, completing the line up with Chris Hutton on Guitar/Bass and Robyn Slater on Harmonica and Sax and myself of course Mick Hutton on Guitar and Vocals. This was a short lived line up with Dan changing careers and having to reduce his busy music schedule. At this point in our history Chris, Robyn and Myself and are concentrating on our acoustic set as most of our gigs are in this genre at this time. We also run a monthly Open Mic sesion at the Norton Pub in Cold Norton which we started in July 2010
So as 2011 approaches I am really excited about being part of the next chapter of Blackwater Sunset. Stick around and see what the Sunsetters get up to!
