ABOUT BLACUS NINJAH
Blacus Ninjah (Atiba Camara-Laye Ralph) was born in Montreal, Quebec and moved to the multi-cultural Mecca of Toronto. As a sapling the notorious Jane & Finch community became home among the seasoned oaks and gravitated towards the vibrant music scene. The impactual sounds of Grand Master Flash, KRS-One, Public Enemy, and Big Daddy Kane fueled the educational urge to forge language and meaningful concepts worth learning, teaching, and articulating. The vivid urban and hip-hop culture influenced the entire generation to take a more revolutionary stance in creating a hopeful environment of change. A survivor’s instinct honed with early tutelage ensured a wisdom filled mouth of twelve year old Blacus who embraced the hip-hop scene with militant and fiery lyrics which command intense reflection on the rigid and harsh realities of the streets. Not content with the seemingly diminishing standard within the music industry, Blacus continues to explore and infuse genres of music such as Rock & Roll, Jazz, Classical and Reggae in the expanding boundaries. Opening up for such acts as Anthony B. , Norris Man, Sanchez, the Finch Crew, Singing Melody, Super Cat, Suspect, and Point Blank (just to name a few) gives Blacus all the credibility for rocking a crowd and bringing the positive vibes to the studio booth. The lethal MC has amassed a host of skills and talents such as networking with VIP’s from within the music/media industry. Starring in a documentary that won the Reel World Film Festival which featured two tracks “Hustle On” and “Never Understand It” by Blacus Ninjah on the soundtrack (Toronto Rap Project/Rap Project.com) directed by Richard Budman and produced by Disc Connected Records. Blacus has also appeared on CBC National in a Songs of Redemption documentary which aired for some 800,000 viewers. After the profound success of the Toronto Rap Project in the spring of 2006 Blacus Ninjah was asked to contribute his unique phraseology and artistic touches on two other mixtapes; Suspect’s “Out Da Wood Workz” and Point Blank’s “Real Talk,” not to mention appearing in the Toronto Sun and Urbanology magazine. Recently fans and admirers had the opportunity to view Blacus on MTV Canada as a special guest addressing violence in the music industry and shaping positive youthful outlooks. Blacus Ninjah’s popularity continues to climb resulting from the utility of Myspace.com where fans and interested supporters are in continuous contact; www.myspace.com/blacusninjah. Worldwide promotions have also been achieved in the Myspace.com community by 33rd on the top 50 rapper’s list in Canada in June 2006 after just a month of posting his music. How could I not mention being the spokesperson for the Jane-Finch.com (which receives 35,000 hits a month and growing) he also got the opportunity to host a show on Bravo network that will beaired sometime in Nov. 2007. Blacus is always moving towards his dreams of recognition in this entertainment industry, especially after his company BLACUS NINJAH INC. just got a major contract as Assistant director for a documentary film producer Andree Cazabon. Blacus also plans to continue his struggle to provide a more accurate depiction of the peoples within the Jane & Finch community while being recognized as a true voice of Toronto’s urban music.
