We Like Music And Also You.
We two Howards play thoughtful acoustic music with lots of harmonies and achy-pretty melodies. We both write and trade lead vocals. Blaine plays acoustic and occasional electric guitar. Leah plays acoustic guitar and piano. We love playing and singing, and we would like to be friends with you.
Hellooo Humbird!
We've just moved from WI to ... a different part of WI. We still miss the south, song circles and church get-togethers, coffee houses and living rooms. And now we miss our pals in Appleton too ... ah, life. On the other hand, we are very glad to be closer to family and all our friends in Minnesota.
We're especially looking forward to getting familiar with the Eau Claire/Chippewa Valley area, which is about 2 hours east of St. Paul, Minn. Leah grew up here, but in visits to family we haven't taken advantage of all the great stuff in the area. Blaine just discovered a fantastic used bookstore, Crossroads Books, in Eau Claire, and the Acoustic Cafe is a fine regional venue featuring ... wait for it ... acoustic music. There's even an all local foods co-op Blaine is hoping to visit, but he's afraid it might just be Leinenkugel and nine kinds of cheese.
We hope to play out a little more, and are excited about our first steps in that direction, a house concert in Minneapolis in January 2009. More info at victorymuse.com. If you are in the Twin Cities, keep an eye on the Victory Muse website for more great shows in 2009.
Most recent project, Dec. 2007:
Leah's lullaby project "Moon in My Window" is available! We recorded at Simple Tune Studio (Tom Eure). It's purty. We did this for our boys and to send to friends & family as Christmas gifts. And, they're available to sleepy dreamers everywhere.
Featured on the record are: hush little baby, still still still, brahms lullaby, bleak midwinter and moon in my window.
Thanks again, Tom! tomeure.com
Thanks to Sylvia Long for giving us permission to use her lyric to Hush Little Baby. So nice! sylvia-long.com
hey guys--long see, no time! if you check out my myspace, i think you can see me playing guitar on a couch in IL, summer '07. that piece is something i came up with when y'all last said something to me about a film sndtrk. i've continued playing it, mostly mistake-free, but it's a challenge to my abilities, i'll admit. last nite i played up in d-son at good 'ol summit coffee, solo, because somebody cancelled on tim, last minute. but there was still folks around to play for. i hope you can meet my wife, ondine, and you mite be interested to know that i met her in may of '07, the nite we all played at anita case's house in rock hill. a.c. introduced us. this summer, i'll play for david & anita at their wedding, down in SC at a state park. fun! hot! i heard y'all are coming down here, & i hope we'll see ya. gotta go now, write soon, jd

Blaine and Leah, I'm just easing into this sleepy-eyed morning... getting ready to take my furry girl for a walk in the park (before the rain). Hope all is well with you both. You are missed around here. I keep waiting for that call: "You're right, Rick. It was a HUGE MISTAKE leaving North Carolina! We're coming back, if for no other reason than to split a $7 tip jar with ya!
peace and all that warm jazz, rick
p.s. oh, the answer is NO... I've NOT made any progress on the next CD project (much to my chagrine). It's been a hectic too many months. We'll talk. I'll provide the excuses.
you and you and them..a car.. the road..the horizon...have you folks made it back down south yet for a little visit? Bring your guitars or anything..? Hope all is well. I always imagine that the new job up north is some kind of secret gov'ment thang...Hush-hush and all that. My imagination has it's way some times! Holler when you have a chance, JoLynn
Ohhhh, I don't think I can wait any longer to send for your CDs. Besides, I need lullabys BAD. I've taken to keeping the CD player right on the bed with me..pitiful..it's just a case of reaching over now and fumbling for a button. Need your new mailing address (I'll send you mine) and we can get this ball rolling.
Spring is budding all around here - soft rains abound. The star jasmine is bursting fragrant and the white blooming red bud trees make a shimmering archway over the sidewalk out front. Are you still enjoying your winter wonderland in the great white north land of cheese?
testing... 1, 2, 3... 1, 2, 3... is this thang on?
Hey amigos,
Hope you both are very well (actually, I'm kinda hoping you're miserable and wanna come back to NC). Any chance?
Drop me a line when you can. I wrote you some time back. I don't have your contact info (address, phone numbers, shoe size, navel details: inny/outy/other)...
Miss you both a bunch, rick (it's as easy as 1, 2, 3... is it not?)
I'll try to get a copy of it in a non-DVD format so you can download it. Ann Marie's husband (the guy with the kiln - wait!) edited it together and he saved it in DVD format. I'll let you know!
