| General | Comic Books! Among my favorite comics are Batman, Legion of Super-Heroes, Justice League of America, Justice Society of America, Superman, Teen Titans, Birds of Prey and 52! Manhunter, published by DC, is also an incredible comic that deserves a look. The more people that read Manhunter, the more likely it will be published longer. SAVE MANHUNTER!!!
Apart from that, I like to take long walks in the mountains here (but no camping... that overnight stuff is bad for my back) and I also enjoy writing humor (although I have yet to do anything with it but chuckle insanely to myself). | | Music | I am an unashamed, unabashed Parrothead (translated: a big Jimmy Buffett fan)! I also love the music of Jack Johnson and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (Brudda Iz). I grew up enjoying The Beatles (naturally), Chicago, Elton John, Billy Joel, and the like. Ahh, the boring life! I love it! | | Movies | My favorite movie is BIG FISH, an allegory of communication between generations. Also, Field of Dreams, What Dreams May Come, The Lion King, Toy Story, Batman Begins, Superman Returns, The Lord of the Rings, Curious George, The Little Mermaid. | | Television | HEROES! Plus, Arrested Development, Boston Legal, House, Justice, Saturnday Night Live (original cast), SCTV, Mystery Science Theatre 3000, Mythbusters, Numb3rs, Law & Order, the Backyardigans, The Wonder Pets (those last two come courtesy of my beautiful 19-month-old daughter), Lost (not really, I have never seen it, but everyone puts it down, so I succumb to peer pressure), Dragonball Z (my introduction to Anime and still the best), and CSI. Let me note: some of the shows on here ARE cancelled, but they still were great! | | Books | Anything by Garrison Keillor, Dave Barry, Jimmy Buffett and Carl Hiaasen. For my profession I read a lot of non-fiction, and actually enjoy it. | | Heroes | My son Sterling, who is just returned with honor from serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Washington DC North Mission! He truly is the Missionary of Steel! |

About me:
My name is Tom Blakely, and I am a 45 year old daddy, grandpa and professor. I am married to an attorney/professor (who moonlights as the most beautiful and talented woman in the world) and I have six children; the oldest is 24 and the youngest is just over a year old. My two oldest children are married, and my first grandchildren (gasp!) arrived within 24 hours of each other, on July 2 and 3 2007! I live in the metropolis of Kaysville, Utah (just outside of Salt Lake City) and love the boring small town life. And, I am still just a comic book fanboy who cannot wait until the comics are put out on Wednesdays!
I have been reading comics since my youngest memory, and I have been collecting comics since Daredevil #72 (first Marvel series, back in the early 70's). Although, it could have been since Superboy & The Legion of Super-Heroes #197, I am not sure. Anyhow, a while. Currently, I collect mainly DC comics, but I also follow stuff by great creators, including Johns, Ennis, Ellis, Morrison, Brubaker, Starlin and, Rucka! The two constants in my collection has been the Legion of Super-Heroes (which is STILL the best title out there) and my good friend Batman (who scared away the monster under my bed).
Thankfully, my Soul Mate (Clella) was open to reading comics with me while dating, especially after I read a SANDMAN comic to her about the dreams of cats. She has not found a lot of comics that catch her interest, but thankfully she puts up with me as long as I help feed the cats.
Anyone that I knew from my boring life in Idaho Falls is welcome to contact me, as well as people I knew from my boring life in Cedar City or St. George. Yeah, I know, I call them "boring" but now that I am over 40, I tend to appreciate the boring aspect of life a bit more!

At 7:30am on July 2, 2007, my first grandaughter was born to my son Ben and daughter-in-law Amy, named EmmmaLeigh Kawaii Rose Blakely. She is gorgeous! Then, on July 3, 2007, my first grandson was born to my son Arthur and daughter-in-law Melissa, named Thomas Arthur Blakely III! It is amazing the size that one's heart can get when new family members come into the world...

Jack Kirby, Gil Kane, Will Eisner, John Buscema... may they all rest in peace. Also, I would have liked to have met my grandfather William Fleming Blakely (may he rest in peace too) and have one more fishing trip with my Dad, William Francis Blakely.
