I learned to walk, run, play baseball and guitar in a small cattle town in southeast Colorado, one of the best places on Earth (although many would disagree with me). It started, I guess, by learning what hard work was. I'm still hoping that maybe, if you just work hard enough at something for the right reasons, you can do whatever you dream of doing. Anyway, for whatever reason, I started to stand out. My friends and family noticed, and somewhere along the way, I was bestowed the title of a "renaissance man"--you know, the people who are good at most everything they do, but aren't really great at anything? Yup, that was me... I played sports, acted in the plays, got good grades, and of course, did a little music.
And that, especially, was something I can't ever recall living without--music. It's always been there, walking beside me, like a life-long companion. I think I knew early on it was what I wanted to do, too. I started banging on a plastic keyboard as soon as I got home from the hospital. The guitar followed when I was twelve, and as soon as that happened, those songs that were born inside me started wiggling their way out. Throughout high school I started recording and producing the amateur songs I wrote on numerous amateur CD's in my dad's amateur basement studio. Also, when I was fifteen, I took the worship leader position full-time at a local church.
Now, at the end of 19 years, I find myself here in Nashville, TN, attending a little university called Belmont. I'm still writing, recording, and playing out as often as I can, taking it slow, soaking it in. And in a way, it seems like the world today has grown to expect us to focus on only one thing at a time...to narrow our vision. And I guess that's where I'm headed now. So good-bye renaissance man--maybe I'll see him again in heaven. As for today, I am a songwriter, a story-teller.
As for tomorrow, who knows.

Isa 42:10 Sing to יהוה a new song; His praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you coastlands and you inhabitants of them! Isa 42:11 Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice, the villages where Qĕḏar dwells. Let the inhabitants of Sela sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains. Isa 42:12 Let them give esteem to יהוה, and declare His praise in the coastlands.
