blancatransfer formed in January 2006 and consists of 4 musicians of Irish and Spanish origin.
It all happened like this: Derek recognised that this project was in need of a talented and committed drummer who could meet the challenge of his objective.
Meanwhile, Charlie, who had been working with a now internationally recognised band, was in search of a new project to get to grips with. Adamant from the start he was only interested in committed musicians, he agreed to a group rehearsal which coincided with an interview for a local TV channel. The rehearsal was successful and Charlie told the TV camera he was the new drummer.
A contact for a professional studio recording emerged within a month and planning for a three-song demo was underway. Surprisingly, the enthusiasm and hard work of the band meant that they managed to produce four songs.
Jony, a bass player who used to play in Habeas Corpus, later met the boys by chance and entered the band (with a little persuading!) Once Jay Castro entered on guitar the line up was complete.
The 4 got straight to work rehearsing non-stop to get a solid set of songs up to scratch in record time. blancatransfer have put on a number of quality live acts around Madrid, critique and appraisal have been beyond the bands expectations and concerts run high on enthusiasm and energy. The unique Span-Irish alternative rock style will be making many further appearances during the year.
The songs you hear were recorded in May 2007 in Doppler Studios, Madrid, and are all composed by Derek. Thanks to the help and support of dedicated friends and family who have performed with him and supported concert after concert, this music is no longer confined to his private enjoyment.
