Blank-Fest began is Nyack, New York in 1997. Chuck DeBruyn and Kenn Rowell came up with a simple idea: provide a means for Kenn's musician friends to join him in giving back to the community by donating their time and talent to perform a concert where the cover charge is a blanket. This allowed his non-musician friends to participate as well. The blankets collected were then distributed to the homeless around New York City on Christmas Eve.
Blank-Fest is now International and has branched out to New Jersey, Texas, Toronto, Canada and Nottingham, UK and now Racine, Wisconsin
