Short and simple... BLASTERBRA are a Galway based group, lead by feisty front-woman Anna Mc (Vox/Guitar) and joined by Evan O Connor (Guitar), Stephen Folan (Bass) and Peadar Carney (Drums) of an eclectic musical background. It's hard to say exactly what genre BLASTERBRA fit into, but they like to think that's a good thing! Some people have said PJ Harvey meets the Yeah Yeah Yeahs with a Riot Grrrl sound thrown in! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
They recently recorded a 2-track demo in the Suite Studios and Temple Lane, Dublin with Ciaran Bradshaw and are delighted with the results. The demo has been getting regular airplay on Icon on Phantom FM; where it was named Demo of the Week, Green & Live, Green on Red FM and Galway Bay FM. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In April, Blasterbra were selected out of over 2,000 bands to take part in the ‘Road to V Festival’ Competition in the Islington Academy, London. The selection panel consisted of A&R from Atlantic Records, Virgin and NME. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Blasterbra are currently in the process of writing an album, and are taking bookings for shows.
