There once was a little boy,
Who had an invisible friend.
His parents called him silly,
They told him it was just pretend.
Then one day, the boy got sick,
His doctors feared that he might die.
He'd slipped into a coma,
And they had no idea why.
But the child's life was fading,
Doctors believed he'd soon be gone
His parents could only wait,
Afraid he'd pass before the dawn.
So, later on that evening,
They paid a visit to his room.
There they saw the strangest sight,
A divine glow cut through the gloom.
There He was, in His glory,
The Son of God stood by the bed.
What He said, they could not hear,
But they were sure their boy was dead.
Much the same as He'd appeared,
He slowly faded from their view.
Fearfully they neared the bed,
Not sure if what they saw was true.
Their son rested quietly,
While tears fell from his mother's eyes.
He whispered, "Don't cry Mommy,"
Which took his parents by surprise.
They called out for a doctor,
And they told him what they heard.
Once the child had been tested,
The doctor asked how he'd been cured.
And in the days that followed,
They kept thinking about that sight.
The Lord standing by their son,
Surrounded by that holy light.
They asked if he remembered,
The boy looked up at them and grinned.
He gave them a kiss, and said:
"That was my invisible friend."
