After a long year of writing and performing, the electro-powerpop outfit Blast Rocks Midtown is making the transition from naive garage band musicianship to becoming vanguards of the current DIY culture that has re-aligned the music industry today. With their self-released EP, "Step Up Get Down", Blast Rocks Midtown carry with them the proof of their development, as well as a clear portrayal of their innovation as writers.
From the pop party hit "Step In", to the sonicly epic song, "Secret", Blast Rocks Midtown sustains a foot-tapping, head-nodding sound so intense you can't help but to break into dance.
Though spreading like a blast of nuclear radiation, Blast Rocks Midtown's sound started with humble beginnings as guitarist/songwriter Mike Wurum outsourced to build its current line-up. With a vision of creating an indestructible unit, Mike left no region untouched. After a lengthy audition process and weeks of scouting, Mike found guys that were ready to up-root themselves from various parts of the country to take part in the brainchild that was forming in a small attic apartment in Hudson County, New Jersey. With the addition of (drummer)James Suprenaunt from Philadelphia, PA, (bassist)Felix Donato from Los Angeles, CA, (Singer/Lyricist)James Blackmon from Geeenwhich, CT. and (guitarist) Chris Christian of Dallas, TX, the foundation of what is now Blast Rocks Midtown was built.
Not only has the quintet taken their local scene by storm by sharing the stage with bands like Kiss Kiss (Eyeball Records), The Scenic (Victory Records) and A Love Like Pi (Thriving Records), they have also touched ground nationally and with the assistance of a booming online social network, the band has excited the eyes and ears of various international markets as well.
In the midst of their perseverance, Blast Rocks Midtown has surely gotten themselves noticed by teenagers and college kids alike, resulting in a rapidly spreading, loyal fanbase. To date, the band has stopped at nothing to get their message heard and are determined to preserve this track record by whatever means possible. When this blast of rock hits your town, it won't be hard to get down. They'll bring the dance party if you bring the moves, so prepare to clap your hands and let it all out.
