I love glass! First, I hand-cut the glass and hand assemble the pieces into the design. There are slight variations in the glass, making each piece of art unique. I fit them together like a puzzle and melt them together in a kiln. The glass is fired to temperatures around 1500°F. To give the flat fired pieces a shape, I take the fused piece and I put it back into the kiln, into a mold, for a second firing, at a lower temperature. Between firings, I work the glass with water-based saws, grinders and drills. The colorful shiny glass I use is called dichroic glass. The coating that is created is very similar to a gemstone and by careful control in thickness, different colors are obtained.

I am Deb Hastings, the artist behind Blazin' Glass. I began working with glass in 2004. I was instantly hooked! I absolutely love it! I sell to a few local businesses in San Antonio such as Works of the Hand in the Alamo Heights area and Originals in La Villita located in downtown San Antonio. Blazin' Glass is named after my son, Blase Wright Jr.. He loved life, his friends and his family. Blase loved his name spelled wrong!...with a 'z' rather than the 's'. So, it was very appropriate to name the glass art business Blazin' Glass!

I HAVE CUSTOMERS THAT SPECIAL ORDER THEIR FACES AND GIVE THEM NAMES, AS WELL. I MAKE THEM IN DIFFERENT SIZES AND COLORS. I CAN MAKE ONE FOR YOU, TOO!

I am not really sure about my background. I haven't really had time to do anything cool, but my other background had kind of expired... it was weird b/c I had some funky advertisement going across my page. And I just made it pink for the time being. Nothing is wrong with a little color g/f! :)
