The Bleeding Wingnuts Biography
The Bleeding Wingnuts is a unique name with a unique group of musicians to back it up. The band originated in 2002 from Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; it's a small town where everybody knows everybody. In most respects, it’s a real life Mayberry, not the place from were you would expect a hard rock band to begin. But after getting to meet the members, you might not expect them to be rock stars.
The band got its start when guitarist Isaac Fisher and drummer Jordan Gutshall got together and started to jam on a few classic rock songs. After a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, it increased to the massive library it is today. Two years later Kyle Grove joined the band to handle the vocals.
As with most bands, one would expect their ages to range from early twenties to mid thirties, not so with the Wingnuts. Their first gig came their junior year of high school. A school-sanctioned event was taking place, and the band decided to give it a try with four cover songs. However, they were faced with a small dilemma. They needed a band name. Their first choice band name, Metallica, begin taken, they were forced to go with the name that guitarist Isaac Fisher’s older brother had dubbed them with weeks before: The Bleeding Wingnuts. Though they expected to change it later, like an embarrassing nick name, it stuck. Since then the band members have had a love/hate relationship with the name, getting many different reactions. At times hating its stupid humor, but in the end loving it for the silliness that it is and the certain amount of uniqueness it adds to the character of the band, over time they have learned to counter negative criticism with: “Remember that name. You’ll be screaming it later!” Sure enough, after hearing and witnessing their live performances, audiences are left screaming, “Bleeding Wingnuts!”
Later that same year guitarist Isaac Fisher and drummer Jordan Gutshall got together and wrote their first three originals, Forgotten, Lies, and Between You and Me. At the beginning of their senior year, the band performed a show to benefit the local community. After playing, the soundman was blown away by their performance and asked them to play a show with his band at the Crow Bar. Once Central PA’s best spot for rock music, its stage had seen the likes of famous bands such as Godsmack, Static-X, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, Three Doors Down, Sevendust, Marilyn Manson, and Gwar just to name a few. Later the band used that same soundman to record a demo CD of three songs.
After graduating from high school, the members of the Bleeding Wingnuts took separate paths in life but still got together to play music, keeping the spirit of the band alive. Receiving encouragement from friends, fans and family, the members got together to finish their first full-length album. They provided the album with an absolute minimum of one song that someone would like, love or make their ring tone.
The band has since been through many trials and tribulations. But through it all they have come out on top, not letting adversity bring them down. Instead, they use it to strengthen their friendship and bring them together as band mates. Today the band continues to play. With recent events taking place to bolster the bands success, The Bleeding Wingnuts have kicked into high gear and are ready to show the world what a small town band from the heart of Pennsylvania has to offer.
