The Story So Far...
From the very beginning of Blight the Clown's life, everyone knew he was special. Well maybe not everyone, well... maybe no one thought he was special. But he sure did stink up the place. The truth of it is that Blight the Clown was grown in a swamp and raised by rats. Once he grew so big he busted the rats nest and was exiled from the lair. While wandering the swamp all by his lonesome, he stumbled upon a traveling circus that took a chance on him, and thus began his career in the arts.
The disturbing mind at Blight Productions (Brian A. Bernhard) that gave birth to "Blight the Clown" is also responsible for various paintings, illustrations, photographs, musical madness, and video insanity! He has produced the world famous "Intelligent Design - The Music Video" featuring the Polka Guy Barry Mitchell from ABC's World News Now fame. He is also the creator/ producer/ editor of "ART or something like it!" -A Television Series About Artists. And most recently he unleashed his latest madness based on Charles Dickens' Christmas classic called "A CLOWN CAROL-THE MARLEY MURDER MYSTERY. Blight the Clown is also the bass player Invisible Records recording artists "THINGS OUTSIDE THE SKIN"

I am also looking for funding to help produce the feature version of "A CLOWN CAROL", if you can help and would like to see a feature version made, please feel free to contact me.

The Shotgun Theater Festival: A Series of Spontaneous Artistic Collaboration.
Competition
JOIN US BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE
Currently, we are seeking actors, directors, playwrights, stage managers, technicians, per5formance artists, musicians, and volunteers of any sort. This is an exciting opportunity with great potential for growth in the future.
Festival dates are either January 8,9,10, and 18 or January 15,16,17, and 18th.
The concept is an innovative one. We get directors, actors, and playwrights in a room one night and over the course of a weekend, WRITE, REHEARSAL AND PERFORM Fourteen ten-minute plays IF FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE.
These plays compete for audience votes to appear again on the final day of the festival. On that day, audience votes, and an esteemed panel of judges will select a winning production. That group of people will be awarded a rent free weekend at the Gene Frankel Theatre to produce a full-length version of the mini play created.
We hope to bring artists together and give them an opportunity to meet other people in the business as well as show off their skills. Participation is free and there is no audition necessary.
Please send questions and submissions to shotguntheater@yahoo.com. Beginning January 2, 2009,
Please feel free to stop by the theatre between the hours of 2-6pm M-F to submit in person and take a look around.
The Gene Frankel Theatre is located at 24 Bond Street between Lafayette and Bowery. Take 6 to Bleeker or F to Broadway Lafayette.
