Blind Before Dawn is primarily a dark electronic metal act who are underground veterans of the gothic / metal industrial/ EBM scene and don't care about genre boundaries in this brave new world.
The original conception of the band and it's birth was in 1998 and known as MKI.
MKI - 1998-2006
MKI was a more synthpop affair and a long period of maturing as a band and songwriters. Davi Lovatt is the only surviving member of the original lineup.
Over these 8 years the band played Slovenia,Sweden,USA west coast, released an EP and a full length album "Distance" but by the end of 2006 they had lost most of their synthpop roots and moved to melodic industrial.
MKII -2007-2009
MKII is the period that the band started to move into a slightly different direction and enlisted David Novan on guitar and backing vocals, and Mat Lahan later on synths. MKII also saw the band become a signed artist with another label other than their own Danceflaw Recordings (which they'd released 2 EPs, a single of "Breaking The Haloes" and the "Distance" album).
MKII ended when the band parted ways with Novan and Mat Lahan took over on guitar- the band realized they had gone in seperate directions...thus with Lovatt and Lahan as the remaining members of the band MKIII was born
MKIII-2009 to present day
MKIII of BBD was born when we started to feel a real divide with David Novan on where the band was and where we wanted to go. It has resulted so far in a new CD EP to be release in 2010 titled "Reworks" , and the band has expanded to a more full live lineup with Rhee Deadfall on bass and Rog on synths, with guest female appearance by Kelly Bosco.
The transition from MKII to MKIII has also resulted in the band starting to take the fight from small pubs to festivals in 2010 and a much more serious focused view than with Novan in the band.
The band's new EP shall be released March 6th 2010, featuring four new songs, plus remixes of their songs by 19 NinetyNine, Schwarzes Fragment , James Perry, and the internationally respected DJ LedManville.
