Classic rock riffs, swirling drums, hints of old school mixed in with touches of classical influence, liberally dashed with modern alternative sounds, Blind Edge covers it all in their unique sound and style.
“Our goal is to connect with people through music. If that means covering Rush, Guns n Roses and Lifehouse in the same set to reach the maximum span of listeners, we’re willing and able to do that,” says vocalists/pianist Jacqui Crockett. “We want to get out there, have fun and throw the best party possible everywhere we go.”
The diversity of sound and influence can be heard throughout their debut EP “Beyond the Lines.” The title song has a bluesy, piano based sound with Stevie Ray Vaughan influenced guitar riffs. “Fragile Experiment” blends an ethereal strings, classical piano, and choir, with rocking drums and guitar ala Evanescence. The third original speaks to working through life’s issues while spending hours “On the Road” driving down the sun-drenched, teeming highways of California.
Drummer Rich Crockett wrote and sings lead on the upbeat, catchy “Walkin’ on Water”, which resonates with the deep faith-based roots of the band. “It’s just one of those songs that seems to hook you,” explains lead guitarist Dale Clontz. “The first time you hear it you can start singing along, and you find yourself singing it all day.”
The rest of the album shows the refined musicianship of the band on the complex “YYZ”, as well as the surprising Ann Wilson style singing chops of lead singer Jacqui Crockett on “Rock and Roll.” Familiarity breeds excellence on “Holy Moment”, the song the band calls “an old favorite” they have been playing for several years. From the screaming guitar solo on “Sweet Child O’ Mine” to the heartfelt ballad of “Close”, the band’s broad musical scope and flexibility resounds.
“Right now we are all about investing in our relationships with each other, our kids and our community,” explains vocalist/guitarist Susie Helton. “People are so caught up in their commute and bills and personal crisis that the most interaction the average person gets is online with MySpace and instant messenger. No one gets to know one another. Neighbors are strangers. People feel like governments, churches and other organized bodies can’t be trusted. If we can sing about hope, love, friendship, life’s ups and downs, and do it in an honest way and in places that engage folks in the music and the people around them, we believe we are doing our part to change that cycle for the better.”
Hey Guys, been awhile... I don't know what your plans are for the 13th but if your not playing a show I am playing at Club Retro with a sweet electronic pop band from the Netherlands, it should be a lot of fun. Anyways, have a good Thursday!
"At last a follow up to Janette Mason's sparkling debut as leader. Alien Left Hand ....was well worth the wait…” Production **** Performance**** -- BBC Music Magazine
“…an album fizzing with fresh ideas and delights, an exhilarating musical journey .. with brilliantly original writing and inspired playing…” -- Helen Mayhew
"Every track from the rhythmic ‘NY Cab Ride’ and restless ‘4 Wheel Drive’ to the brooding ‘Mae’s Song’ has a terrific hook but it’s the way Mason switches tempo and moods that makes ALH great fun. " -- Diva Magazine
Dear fellow rockers, have been busy too much like all, trying hard amidst the economy. Heard your version of Rock N Roll. My bands closing song, sung by me. People seem to dig it at the end set. Wish we could sing it together. I think my voice is a little more gruff and lower, like Anne's. Just love the Wilson sisters tho., thus my background music on space "Cazy on You". Sounds like you all r kicking it and a variety. Keep up the good work. If every near Ca., where you guys r out playing would like to jam! Marcy Magic,(my hubby has that nic name for me.) go figure. Later blessings, Marcy
We rocked!! great effort on everyones part. i could've gone for another crack at a few of my drum parts... but i only got ONE shot to lay it down and i'm happy with the results.
When "Walkin' on the Water" came on - I was thinking... that sounds familiar... then it hit me... Duh! I know that one from way back in the old days!
You should go to CIA (Christian Indie Alliance) Summit in Franklin (TN)... I've been the conference photographer for the last couple of years, so I'll be there... and we coud catch up...
