| General | Philadelphia's such a great city -- it's a great place for artists and young people, and it's pretty easy to navigate. (No small task, considering I'm blind and still manage to get around.) My principle love is art (sculpture) and music. | | Music | Classical and rock, mainly older rock.... SEX PISTOLS, THE WHO, THE BEATLES, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, METALLICA, NINE INCH NAILS.........OK, and maybe some Barbara Streisand (just kidding!) | | Movies | not much into movies for obvious reasons, though I really enjoyed listening to the Star Wars radio show on tape.........though I think Luke Skywalker is a big wussy-boy. | | Television | I also like Star Trek: TNG and The Simpsons, 24, and THe West Wing. Chasing Echoes Through The Dark's Blurbs |
About me:
24 years old, openly gay (and happy with it), and also blind. That probably sounds like a heavy burden to people, but it's who I am, and I wouldn't trade 5 minutes of my life for anyone else's.
It also might come as a surprise to some of you that I am a sculptor. I've been working at it all my life (well, at least as long as I can remember), and have used everything from natural and polymer clays to metals and even welding. (Yup, I've even used a blowtorch!! Well, supervised use, at least.)
Art has always been a big thing in my life, probably on account of my blindess. Most movies are a bit too hard for me to absorb, but I love reading and writing stories. I also love music, though I can't play anything for my life.
I've been working on a book for some time now, inspired by my experiences growing up gay and disabled. I was mentioned (be it all too briefly) in a recent "Advocate" article about growing up blind and gay, and hopefully more press will come for my book when it's published next year. (We're looking for the summer of 2007.)

I live in Philadelphia with my brother and my Dad, and often visit my mom in Manhattan Beach, California. I feel so lucky to have had a family that has been so supportive of me, from being blind, to my interest in art. Not to mention my interest in men!

Who I'd like to meet:
For obvious reasons, my social life can be a bit limited. I do go out, but mainly to areas in Philly I'm familiar with. I'm totally up for meeting new people, but it can be a bit awkward. If you don't mind meeting me in the company of my brother or a friend on a first date, then the rest should be smooth sailing.
What I'm looking for are friends in either Philly or SoCal who enjoy the art scene, love music, and stirring, entertaining conversation. Romantically, I prefer guys either my age or a bit older (younger guys are usually drama queens with no patience), who are level-headed and down to earth.
