VISIT BLIND PIG ON iLIKE TO HEAR MORE OF OUR MUSIC!
From our humble beginnings in the basement of an Ann Arbor, Michigan blues club in 1977, Blind Pig Records has grown into one of the premier blues labels in the world. A virtual who's who of blues and roots artists performed on the Blind Pig stage at one time or another - Otis Rush, Koko Taylor, Commander Cody, Asleep At The Wheel, Roosevelt Sykes, Robert Lockwood, Mighty Joe Young, Johnny Shines, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Walter Horton, Bonnie Raitt, Eddie Taylor, Jimmy Rogers, and Hound Dog Taylor, to name a few.
Their incredible performances and the enthusiasm of the audiences led to the notion of recording this memorable music and presenting it to fans beyond the confines of this legendary club. From the very beginning, our belief in the creative abilities of the artists and their need to expand the limits of their art form took precedence over a strict adherence to any narrowly defined musical idiom. As a result, our label's natural progression has been to release albums not only in Blues, but also in the fields of Roots Rock, Zydeco, Rhythm & Blues, and Soul Gospel. This philosophy has earned Blind Pig a reputation for excellence not only through releases by some of the all-time greats, but also through recordings of the new generation of artists who are bringing these uniquely American art forms into the 21st century.

Popa Chubby - The Fight Is On
An electrifying selection of hard-charging, guitar-driven anthems in tribute to the classic rock he grew up with. From Zep-style arena rock to ZZ Top boogie by way of Buddy Guy and Freddy King, this album is one of his rowdiest yet.
Peter Karp & Sue Foley - He Said She Said
A brilliant collection of original songs that grew out of a series of letters between U.S. singer/songwriter Peter Karp and Canadian Juno award winner Sue Foley over a two year period. The letters started as a casual exchange but as time went on, they became more poignant, more revealing and more intimate. The acclaimed songwriters eventually came to recognize that they provided a wellspring of inspiration for these rootsy, heartfelt tunes.
Big James - Right Here Right Now
A great introduction to the Playboys' unique, horn-driven sound. The album features eight original compositions as well as covers of Bobby Bland, Tyrone Davis, and the O'Jays, all highlighted by precisely-executed horn arrangements and dynamic, soulful musicianship.
"Big James is not well known but he should be. One of the most talented and consistently pleasing bluesmen working out of Chicago today." - Living Blues
Roy Rogers - Split Decision
The first studio recording with his band, The Delta Rhythm Kings, in seven years -- marks his reunion with Blind Pig, the label that issued Rogers' highly regarded early recordings in the late 1980's. Since then he's gone on to worldwide acclaim as one of the best slide guitar players around.
"Split Decision includes some of the strongest songwriting of Rogers’ career and a dazzling array of guitar tones" - Offbeat
Webb Wilder - More Like Me
His latest release finds Webb in great form, and combines some of his new songs like the honky-tonking title cut with obscure cover gems -- including a great version of Roky Erikson's brooding "Don't Slander Me."
"Wilder’s song selection is as impeccable and reliable as his guitar wrangling skills and one listen to the soulful gumbo of a title track confirms his self-deprecating wit is intact and flourishing. The whole album swings.a glorious record, quite possibly his best, and that’s saying something." - Blurt
Commander Cody - Dopers, Drunks, and Everyday Losers
Ever since his wild early days as a front man for the Lost Planet Airmen, the Old Commander has plowed his own path through the fields of the American music scene as one of its few truly unique and iconoclastic figures. His new CD, Dopers, Drunks, and Everyday Losers, finds him “lost in the ozone" once again, as he takes the listener on another twisted trip through a landscape populated by knaves, ne'er do wells, wastrels, and miscreants.
"His latest release finds the Commander and his still vital band continuing to bridge the gap between twanged-out country sagas and sing-along hippie anthems." - Relix
John Nemeth - Love Me Tonight
Brimming with energy, Nemeth's new CD continues his penchant for reinvigorating the sound of vintage American rhythm and blues with his spine-tingling vocals, acute melodic sensibilities, and considerable skill as a songwriter. Frequent collaborator Elvin Bishop guests on two tracks.
"John Nemeth is without a doubt one of the most exciting young talents to emerge in many years. This album adds to his legacy." - Blueswax
Damon Fowler - Sugar Shack
With his hybrid of roots rock, blues, and sacred steel, Brandon, Florida native Damon Fowler started wowing audiences with his guitar exploits as a teenager, building a reputation as one of the hottest young players on the scene. Adding songwriting and vocal skills to his repertoire over the years has brought him many accolades, with critics extolling his musical prowess and maturity as well as his technical expertise.
Magic Slim & The Teardrops - Midnight Blues
When word got out that Magic Slim was looking for a few guest Teardrops, the Chicago rhythm & blues community responded with a resounding "Yeah!" Joining him on this incredible set of real Chicago Blues with a dash of Country and a bit of Soul thrown in are James Cotton, Little Ed, Lonnie Brooks, Otis Clay, Gene Barge, Elvin Bishop and the Chicago Rhythm & Blues Kings horn section.
"Midnight Blues is another round of what Slim does best: Some of the toughest straight-ahead blues you can find that are still delivered by the guy who created them." - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Albert Cummings - Feel So Good
When Albert Cummings recorded this live album at the historic Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, MA, the audience was so enthralled and supportive they became part of the performance in a way that's rarely heard. Albert and his band responded with a blistering set of great originals and killer covers of Zeppelin, Little Feat and Muddy Waters tunes.
Robin Rogers - Treat Me Right Music has been Robin Rogers' consuming passion ever since her days as a teenage street singer. Possessing a deeply expressive and soulful voice and an infectious enthusiasm for the blues, Robin and her band have developed a devoted and growing following. Her Blind Pig debut, Treat Me Right, fulfills the promise of her previous two releases, revealing an accomplished artist of rare polish and originality.
Kenny Neal - Let Life Flow Let Life Flow marks the return of multi-instrumentalist and modern swamp-blues master Kenny Neal, with an inspired set that draws musically from the sizzling sounds of his native Louisiana, while striking a deep, emotional resonance in response to the personal trials he has recently endured.
Webb Wilder & The Beatnecks - Born To Be Wilder Born To Be Wilder (recorded live at WorkPlay in Birmingham, Alabama) captures the full flavor of Nashville-based roots rocker Wilder's live performances: booming baritone vocal delivery, blazing guitar licks, and a punchy rhythm section, overlaid with a healthy dose of his quirky humor. Wilder has been called "a kind of Tom Petty for the trailer set" (San Francisco Chronicle), though he describes his style thus: "We play both kinds of music, Rock AND Roll."
Popa Chubby - Deliveries After Dark The ever prolific Popa Chubby returns with a new CD of hard-hitting rock 'n' roll. The disc is balls-out Blues/Rock played with reckless abandon, no apologies, visceral and heavy, with a few surprises thrown in - such as the theme from "The Godfather" and the spacy and evocative "Woman In My Bed Dub," a reggae tune as thick with smoke as a Kingston club.
Nappy Brown - Long Time Coming Nappy Brown is one of the great voices in American music. He makes a triumphant return with an album that swings with the same soulful authority that he exhibited on his hits of a half-century ago.
Peter Karp & Sue Foley Rules of Engagement Commander Cody, Lone Ranger Webb Wilder - She's Not Romantic from More Like Me
Damon Fowler, Wrong Side of the Road Popa Chubby, Sally Like To Run John Nemeth, Blue Broadway
"It sounds like it was one hell of a party that night." - AllMusic
"The combination of excellent material and Rogers' compelling voice is what makes this a winner." - AllMusic
"Kenny Neal's latest effort is a resounding reaffirmation of his talents as a musician, songwriter and singer. While the album has its share of melancholy, Let Life Flow has enough uplifting moments and infectious grooves to keep the party going." - Living Blues
"On this scorching live CD, Wilder loads up on fan favorites like "Human Cannonball," "One Taste of the Bait," and "Poolside." Born to Be Wilder also serves as an excellent intro to Wilder's vast catalog, which he's been steadily working at for more than two decades now. His distinctive baritone and deadpan stage patter guide the way, while the Beatnecks rock with the economy of an old-time country band. Smokin' leads last just long enough, and the three guitarists burn through the songs without any pileups." - Cleveland Scene
"The ambitious performances, the good-timing rock songs, the searing guitar solos, and the willingness to experiment all suggest youth and embrace freedom. With all this excitement coming across in a convincing, fist-pumping fashion, Deliveries After Dark is a very loud success."- AllMusic.com
"Nappy Brown is still in prime voice throughout this spirited set. In addition to a variety of blues (including an acoustic "Cherry Red"), blues ballads, and some vintage R&B, he is quite effective singing soul (which he predated) on "Give Me Your Life" and a gospel piece, "Take Care of Me." With the fiery playing of guitarist Sean Costello egging him on along with the drive of the other sidemen, Nappy Brown is heard throughout at the top of his game."- AllMusic.com

MySpace Clearance: Florida's online guide to live jazz & blues info is leaving MySpace.
Hello MySpace Friend!
Jazz & Blues Florida is bailing out of MySpace and focusing on our own websites now. We thought Facebook was the way to go, but now it looks like that is disintegrating, too.
If you really want to connect to Florida's jazz & blues scene come check out our main site at www.JazzBluesFlorida.com and if you like what you see, shoot me an email and let me know you want to sign up for our email list. You can opt for daily, weekly or monthly contact and change your mind at any time.
If you are musician based or touring here, our listings are free - we just need to know about them. Use the email address below to send us the info.
I am sure you understand the value of these connections and that nowadays providing that connection is your contribution to what keeps us going, like the money you used to spend on newspapers. This is a one-time request. We will be deleting your MySpace connection after we send this out so you will not be hearing from us again here.
See you on the other side, where the good music is happening! Please excuse us if you are already over there, we had to do this as auto as possible due to the high number of friends we have to process.
