   About BlindSpot
BlindSpot have been together for over two years, the lead guitarist; Darren Tait came up with the name 'BlindSpot' after studying eyes in biology. Josh McGregor and Darren Tait compose the originals.

fusion battle of the bands 2006 champions!!!
A successful set saw us to the final of Fusion's Battle of the Bands 2006, competing against Orkney's top 6 young bands. The final was tough, and could of gone any way...but luckily...WE WON!
It felt fantastic to return to the stage holding the trophy. We were awarded £500 cash-prize and a headlining gig in Fusion nightclub.
Blind Spot will be appearing on Radio Orkney over the next few days, aswell as massive newspaper coverage.

The launch of 'The White Spark EP' is the 7th Oct. We will be playing a set in Grooves Records where the cd will be on sale for £6. We hope to see you there!

Luckily for us, we got through to the final(!) so we will see you there on the final of the competition on the 21st!

fusion's battle of the bands
Well a lot has happened since the last update; we are nearing completion of the debut CD and are planning various launch gigs and possibly an appearance on Radio Orkney. It seems like it's all coming together! Luckily, it's just in time for the second battle of Orkney's finest bands. Fusion's Battle of the Bands is spread over 3 weeks, with 12 bands. The competition is spit into two heats, with the best 3 bands of each heat being invited to the final to compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. BlindSpot are up against great bands such as Dazed, The Stave Natives and Feedback, so it's sure to be a great night and we hope to see you there!

reviews of blindspot live @ town hall april 7th
The Orcadian: "Remember the name - Blindspot. In just a few years this Orkney band may well have moved on to bigger things, if their spectacular performance in Kirkwall's Town Hall on Friday was anything to go by.
From the start of their set clear that they were going to be different from what had come before them. Josh McGregor, who sings and plays guitars, made a walk-on entrance through the crowd and lead guitarist, Darren Tait, had a smoke machine strategically placed next to his foot. Also in the band are Tom Robinson, who plays drums, and bassist, Scott McCormick.
Some covers performed included a recent chart topper 'No Tomorrow' by Orson and two Coldplay covers - 'Yellow' and 'The Scientist'.
'Yellow', in particular, showed the group's talents, both as individual musicians and a group, and this was clearly a polished performance. This song also showed off Josh's talents as a vocalist as he has the perfect voice for the type of rock/indie music the band perform.
Another noticeable merit was that the band make very good use of dynamics, a subtle yet simple technique often forgotten about or ignored by others.
The boy's own tunes were all excellent and easily fit into the same genre of music as their covers. One audience member commented: "They are a really good group and their own stuff's really strong.
"They've played a really good balance of well known tunes and new ones so tonight, as usual, they were spot on."
Towards the end of the night, the band were clearly not afraid to involve the audience in their performance, with Josh going on a crowd-pleasing walkabout.
They finished the night off with one of their own numbers, 'Hold On'. The group are currently recording their EP, which is about half finished. Thanks to the funds raised from this gig, they hope to press on with the recording and have it released within the next couple of months.
Having heard this group on a few different occasions, I can definitely say that this was their best performance, and i hope that their EP leads them on to many more big things. They Deserve it".

Orkney Today : "BLINDSPOT are the latest young local musicians to head into the studio and record an EP of self-written songs. The CD is being funded partially by an event held by the band last Friday night at the Town Hall.
Josh McGregor ran onto the stage playing the intro of Muses Plug In Baby, indicating the beginning of Blindspots set. The band are due to record an EP soon, consisting of about 8 tracks, six of which they performed on the night. They played a mix of acoustic tracks such as Way Back Home and heavier songs like Blinds Eye, which they dedicated to Vague Inspiration, as well as two Coldplay covers. They ended with a fan and band favourite, Hold On, which was written by singer/guitarist Josh McGregor and guitarist Darren Tait.
Despite some onstage troubles such as guitar straps coming off in the middle of solos and microphone stands falling over, Blindspot managed to pull off a great set to end the night.
Afterwards, Josh expressed his surprise at the success of the evening, which he organised with his brother, Matthias, who also DJed between the bands. When asked how he felt about how the night went, Josh told us, It was more successful than we expected. We were hoping for 100 people, but over 130 turned up.
He added, The other two bands were really good. Vague Inspiration surprised me. Their recordings sound nothing like them, and theyve started off really strong. Blindspot head into the studio soon to record a collection of indie rock and acoustic songs. You can preview mp3s of live tracks on http://www.orkneybands.com".

Yeah same here, was at a party, the sound was surprisingly good. It felt good to get rid of some of the nerves at a warmup gig u know, I feel we'r more confident now. yeah I think we'v got a tough heat but we're probably some of the stronger bands (on a good night). Any word on how the other bands are gettin on?

Yeah though (as it appears from here) you have a bit more of a following, its weird though in Stromness you never hear of any of these kirkwall bands unless you gig with them.
