GeneralI love writing, reading, dancing (DDR!), watching roller derby (too much of a wuss to actually BE a rollergirl), knitting, baseball, fantasy football, Star Wars, Australia, Mario Kart, swimming, camping, artsy-fartsy type projects, and progressive liberal politics.
MusicTruthfully, I am a pop music kind of girl. But I do love lots of stuff. Music is one of the things that can make my heart soar and bring me to tears without warning. Favorites include: Indigo Girls, Crosby Stills and Nash, Air Supply, REM, Bob Schneider, Kirsty McColl, Kenny Loggins, Peter Paul and Mary, Anna Nalick, Steve Burns, Cowboy Mouth, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Zap Mama, Dead Milkmen, early Beastie Boys, just about anything you'll find on DDR, Cibo Matto, Grey Delisle, Coldplay, Madonna, Prince, Duran Duran, Norah Jones, Schrodinger's Cat, Lyle Lovett, kd lang, Melissa Ethridge, just about any Broadway musical (except Oklahoma- I hate that show), Tenacious D, and Ruthie Foster.
MoviesI am Star Wars obsessed. Empire is my personal favorite, but I love them all. Also a big fan of Baz Luhrmann (Strictly Ballroom and Moulin Rouge) and Kevin Smith. Dogma is sheer genius. I love stupid comedies like Tommy Boy and anything by Adam Sandler or Will Farrell, and I can generally enjoy romantic "chick flick" type movies. I do enjoy foreign films too, but Jason isn't wild about 'em so we don't watch them as much. Like Water for Chocolate is another favorite. I also really enjoy old school horror flicks by Roger Corman with Vincent Price starring.
TelevisionI'm using MG's childhood to relive my own, so I'm really into cartoons right now. Favorites are pretty much anything with Grey Delisle in it (Billy and Mandy, Danny Phantom, Foster's Home) and anything stupid that makes me laugh. I also am really hooked on YouTube. I do love watching The Closer, Law and Order reruns, and the latest season of Next Food Network Star. Otherwise, you can find me playing the Wii quite a bit.
BooksOh good lord. There just isn't enough room. Personal favorites include Anne Rice, Anne Lamott, Troy Denning, Julia Cameron, Douglas Adams, Joseph Campbell, and just about any self-help book ever written.

What one word embodies you?

http://www.brainfall.com/quizzes/what-one-word-emb...

I am the embodiment of Truth. Your curiosity has an insatiable appetite, and is the most essential thing that drives you. You question everything and constantly strive to uncover universal truths. You are a person enchanted by history, and you study it religiously in hopes of being the one to discover The Truth. You take nothing at face value, and know that if you want the truth youll have to dig for it. However, this is a double-edged sword for sometimes the truth is staring you right in the face and you cant even see it.

YES! A parenting choose your own adventure--with a dash of a "worst-case survival handbook: parents." How un/popular would that be?! "If you a) choose to tell your child the truth about Santa, turn to pg 84...."

I've missed myspace!! I've hardly been on here, but I still like it better than fb. Fb just seems more...dry...like, the status updates and little red-boxed numbers of updates are cool, but I just feel like I can express myself better on here, with the profile songs and page backgrounds and such. I wish everyone wouldn't've migrated o'er there, but it's inevitable now...i'm stuck in a dense land of applications and "posted items.

Hey !! thank you for the blog comment...I like your new blog idea re: songs.
But yes, I would miss your blogs that ruminate that embelish in both the bizarre and the mundane in such a humorous way :) I am longing to blog more too; it's just finding the time right now, and the fact that I've become a facebook addict suddenly, and the very annoying fact that 1 of my shift keys is broken, making intelligent typing rather difficult :0 !! Who knew the humble shift key was SO integral to the keyboard's existence?

You know, I haven't been following the Dodgers this season. When I was a kid, I was a HUGE Dodger fan. I was actually shocked to hear they were going to the playoffs this year.
I didn't go to any games this year, but I hope they go on to win!

Well, well! Forget Dr Weevil, we have John Hopkins University saying it might be true:

Weirdness!!! So after puzzling all night about why the hair might be correlated with acid reflux/killer heartburn, I conducted an internet search this morning :) According to "Dr Weevil," "This refers to the folk belief that women who suffer from severe heartburn during pregnancy are more likely to give birth to hairy babies. As I recall (it’s been a few months), the author was dubious, but it seems reasonable to me. All other things being equal, a hairy baby is likely to be overdue, an overdue baby is likely to be unusually hefty by the time it is born, and a larger baby will leave that much less room in its mother’s abdomen for non-reproductive organs like the stomach, making acid reflux and heartburn that much more likely. Not to mention that a woman ‘eating for two’ will be trying to squeeze more food into less stomach-space, if her baby is unusually plump."
I'm not so sure this train of thought makes any logical sense, but I'm going to keep looking. As Alice said, "curiouser and curiouser.
" Yes, as you see, I have a lot of lag time to fill up right now ;)

I don't know how I've escaped the stretch mark phenomenon so far!!!! I've heard it's a hereditary thing, and acc to my mom she only got "a couple" right at the very end. But, I think it might be the fact that I carried so long and high instead of low...seriously, I grew purely upward instead of outward! Yes, I've escaped "the fire" so to speak unscathed, but carrying so high gave me such major acid reflux and rib pain...it's a trade off huh???

No, they don't offer the $2.99 gas deal on the Jeep Wranglers...and gas is REALLY expensive here. Yesterday, driving home, I passed a station and it was $4.65 a gallon...which is about the average here and it's going UP. My old truck got about 22 mpg, the jeep gets about 18 mpg so it's not that big of a difference...except that the jeep has a huge tank so it costs me about 90 bucks to fill it up. UGH! But I did get a little YODA emblem (like the Christian Fish symbol) and I stuck it on it. I'm also contemplating getting SANSOLO as a personalized plate.
What do you think?

I would say to save about $400 for something like that. It really goes on time, so the cost depends on how many colors, how big, and how intricate it is. The guy gave me a break on this one so he could put it in his portfolio so I didn't nearly pay that much. But $400 or so is what he said it was worth. Took 5.5 hours and I think he usually charges $75 an hour.
